This naturally sourced scatter is flaky and similar in consistency to coarsely chopped sawdust or maybe dried herbs. There's nice irregularity and variety in the shape of the flakes. All the flaky and spiky bits that imitate pine needles are great to use on gutter guard brush sections cut to length and trimmed, for pines or cedars. This is my go-to flock for those trees now. Note: spray adhesive is a must for those plastic bristles and watered down glue works just fine in sealing it. Medium Green is definitely the first choice for trying it out. Not too dark, not too light, and there's some shade variation. Keep in mind, the flakes are similar in length to some coarse foam flock but they aren't chunky or granular like the ground up foam. Generally it lends itself more to adhering to sub-structures of poly fiber, lichen, seafoam trees, etc. (hairpray works fine) as leaf material rather than grass. This might be more of an old fashioned type of flock but it ended up surprising me
