P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback
P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback
Great old classic

I received this kit as a gift and felt compelled to move it to the top of my build list out of respect for the giver. I'm glad that I did, as this kit turned out very nice. This is a simple kit to build with less than 50 parts in total. Almost the entire cockpit is molded as a single piece, but even given that drawback, the detail is fairly good. The panel lines are raised, as you would expect for molds from 1967 (I know this as I had to sand the copy-right off one of the kit's pieces). There were several ejector pin marks that needed filling or sanding, but nothing too major. The most difficult part of the kit was trying to avoid sanding panel line details off the kit while filling and sanding seams. Decals were a bit on the thick side, and I had to resort to solvaset solution to get them to snug down. There are three different sets of marking that you can choose from and all three are very interesting. I'm tempted to get another kit and try a different set of markings. There is a pilot figure but I found the detail a bit soft, so I didn't include it. Overall, I'm really happy that I spent the time to complete this nice kit - it was very fun and satisfying to see the awesome end result. Highly recommended.
