Reviews : Academy Hughes 500D Tow Helicopter

Academy make some nice helicopter models. Id figure building one to give it a try I say it's not a bad kit for what it is. I liked the little size for a 1/48 scale. I wouldn't mind building a few more of them. There so many countries that use this helicopter. Some of these 500d's are in different color schemes Olive Green, Stealth Black and Desert camouflage to name a few. I figure painted a Kakhi Tan with brown and green blotch jungle camouflage would be kind of cool. Hughes 500D Helicopters as seen in some films and tv shows in the 1980's very cool helicopter. I recommend building this one but take your time as all Academy model aircraft you might run into minor fit problems but nothing a little sanding to make it fit right. Nice little Heli once you're done with it.

Very good quality kit. Recessed panel lines and plenty of detail. Has some fit issues and the landing skids on mine were warped and needed a little heating and shaping for it to sit flat, but nothing really major to complain about. At this price point it’s a must buy!

An awesome helicopter to add to your collection. Perfect scale size and a really great price on it by Hobbylinc.Probably recommended for a slightly more skilled model builder. This is due to the small parts - but still a great kit and I highly recommend it.

Overall, not bad. Had a horrible time with the canopy. Eventually gave up and just left it as best as I could. Needed tons of sanding and shaping and I just ran out of patience. Everything else went together fairly well.

enjoyed this build. nice size. i also built the police version for my wife's office. highly recommended. and saves on space if your overloaded with all your great builds.

Very nice little kit. Good level of detail and fit.Had a little trouble with the clear parst not wanting to fit right. Not for beginners due to the small parts.

Good quick little kit. Picked up 2 for a weekend build. May recommend having a bit of skill or at least some really steady hands. Lots of small tiny parts.

Great kit never had this brand but I would buy it again very easy to build very good plans easy to read not much to do but paint, glue, and enjoy it

1st time to build Helicopter. Good size and good for beginner. Love it. I would recommend this
