I don't remember when I bought this kit, but I got it for a good deal. My nephew is a Chevy man and he used to build models, so I gave it to him but he never built it. So I decided to build it for him. I really like the subject but the kit requires a little massaging to make it a good kit. The front grille does not want to fit. The headlight openings need to be opened up a bit so the headlights will fit into the opening. The decals don't want to lay down snugly even when using a decal solvent solution or maybe I was not patient enough. For the experienced modeler, the kit could be built into a nice replica. I do not recommend this kit for a beginner but after a few kits under one's belt it could be a nice challenge. Because of its front grille issue and decal issue I will give a 3 out of 5. Would I build it again? Only if someone asked me to build it.

Overall it is a really enjoyable kit to build. The pieces went together with very few issues. The interior has good detail with bucket seats and a center console. I like that the rearend wasn't molded into the chassis and it had separate coil springs and shocks. The same goes for the exhaust system. The only fit issue I had was with the dash going into the interior bucket. I found this odd because I never experienced it before with an AMT kit. My plan was to add the white stripes decals to the model. 3 out of 4 went on with no problem but the 4th shattered like a piece of glass when I removed it from the water. The same thing happen with the gauge decal too. I would have rated this kit a five but unlike most AMT kits it didn't come with a lot options. You do receive a choice of wheels and a cool fuel injection system. It is great model to add to your collection.

There are a few issues with this kit that are really holding it back. The front headlight area is a little thick, and has to be trimmed for the headlights to fit. The headlights need to be separated from the grille for a better fit. The door panel details are very shallow and almost non-existent in some areas, as is the side window trim. I sanded the window trim down and glued on some thin strip styrene on my kit. With that being said, a little patience, test-fitting, and planning ahead can result in a pretty nice looking Chevelle Replica. The decal sheet is very nice, and the kit does include a nice set of pad-printed tires. Being the only currently readily available '70 Chevelle makes this a reasonably desirable kit and I do recommend giving it a go.

Excellent kit to kit bash or “freebuild”! Occasionally has some seem lines or puckers that need repaired to achieve quality product. That’s no different than the 1:1 world I just haven’t found to whom I should send my repair bill to!! Good practice for us all. If you could buy a contest winner snap it together, wave an airbrush at it then win the whole she-bang what would be the point? It’s a great value, engages the core skills of the hobby , a kit you can do with your grandson to try to get him hooked or you can pull out that parts box of stuff you picked up after watching that YouTube video on installing head/taillights! I built my kit as a classic red 70 chevelle ss with a black interior,kit is good but it would be better with more engine compartment details,i borrowed slicks&rims from a destroyed glue bomb old pro nova kit i received for free,i built it as a car ready for a Saturday at the dragstrip where the slicks can make good use of the massive amount of torque that this iconic car produced,these cars were underrated from the factory,they actually had over 500 ft/lbs of torque and quite possibly over 500 HP,these cars would totally incinerate the stock street tires

I just completed a build of this model and found the same problem with the headlight and grill part. Rather than cutting the headlight rims to make them larger, I opted to using an X-acto knife to cut a 45-degree angle where the headlights are molded at the rear of the grill. The plastic is thin enough that you can slice very easily. The headlights fit in the rims with no effort. The grill fits snug and appears as one piece. Glue can be applied to all parts with the completed job clean and a perfect fit.

This kit was pretty fun to paint and put together. I went with the red interior and white exterior and black stripes. The only complaint about this kit is putting the body over the front support in front of the radiator was tough. I’d plan on putting those in at the same time to get them in right.

Nice kit to build. No assembly issues at all. Quite easy, low parts count, but lacking in detail. Could use more decals, such as badging and side lights. Could be a first glue kit for someone. Have fun!

One of the best kit made.great detail and all kinds of room for add on. Only issue is the front grill. You will have to open the headlights more for them to fit.

Very good quality kit. No flash,nice fit to the parts. More details under the hood would be nice but it's easy to add your own.
