Highly recommended kit
I will start out with the negatives. There was only two; the frame was slightly warped and the instructions have one vague area regarding the hub wheel attachments. Otherwise, this model is almost perfect. The instructions are clear and well laid out. If you read ahead and plan, this model puts itself together. The detail is outstanding. Minimal to no flash. Decals are perfect and in perfect register with many different and interesting options. The wheel attachments are wonderful and simple. The clear window parts are perfect. This straight 6-cylinder 216 ci engine is perfect. The fit of the body to frame is good. The fit of bed to frame is perfect. Plus, you have the option of making a stock original, work vehicle or anything in-between. Lastly, this model begs modification! Indeed, I did scratch the exterior door handles, the wiper arms and blades and the gas tank throat. I even scratched the key hole – which is only located on the passenger door – which is correct! Do yourself a favor; get one or more of these models today!
Puzzle pickup!
By: Tex Jester
My 82 year old mom took up jigsaw puzzles a few years ago as a mind-working pastime; the ones she likes are generally old farm and pastoral scenes, many including a red pickup. After researching, it's usually a Chevy, 1948-1951. So, I picked this kit and made her a red pickup - it's become a standing joke.
On to the kit. Overall, I had good experience - not a lot of flash; mold lines were light and easily removed; fitment decent. Instructions were poor and vague, as is normal. Details were easy to bring out.
Decals are provided for tailgate lettering; fairly easy to apply; use a bit of decal set to finish them. Bed floor is easy to paint to simulate wood, and comes out nice.
Overall, it was a fun build. At some point I might get another and put an aftermarket hot rod engine in it and overall hotrod it - wouldn't be hard to do..!
Good kit with lots of possibilities.

I recently built this kit and I was surprised how easily this kit was to assemble. However, I recommend assembling the engine block, the chassis and and the rear cab extension and fender fillers to the body before painting as this will make the assembly a little quicker and will give you a more uniform paint job on the body. There are lots of possibilities with this kit, stock or service truck or even a street rod if you have spare parts in your junk box. The decal sheet is very nice, but maybe a little thin. There was a minimum about of flash on my 1st kit, but the 2nd kit had a little bit more flash, but overall, a very nice kit.
Nice kit
Got this as a Christmas present and was my first build for 2022. This AMT kit was perfect. No flash, parts fit great, and the instructions were very clear. The rear fenders are separate parts, so it makes it very easy to paint as shown on the box art. The front fenders are molded to the cab, but I just used very thin Tamyia masking tape and was able to easily spray the fenders and different color than the cab/hood. The bed has a nice woodgrain detail that is easy to highlight with some craft paint. I used a Molotov marker to highlight the chrome inserts between the wood slats.
Built Like The Box Cover
Parts fit well, very little flash, and easy to build. I used some parts from another to add some detail (acetylene tanks and fire extinguisher) and followed suggestion from another builder to use the push bumper for side stakes for the side boards. Worked well. Used a combo of brown and tan Tamiya sprays in very light passes to get a wood tone for the bed and sideboards. Since there is such detail in the engine compartment an opening hood would be nice. I used museum wax to hold the hood in place and still allow removal to look at the engine.
Not The Best Kit...But Not The Worst Either!!!
I wouldn't say its the best kit but then its not the worst I'm sure too, it definitely seems to have some issues that seem to arise fit wise with some parts that can cause some hiccups with this kit. I would probably recommend it more for experienced model builders and not those that are somewhat new to the hobby or are looking for a first project involving gluing parts together. Overall I really can't say if I'd recommend it strongly but I think it would be better to leave that choice up to the individual.
Great p/u truck kit.

I enjoyed building this kit, no problems with fit , no warpage, the detail is great, and the supplied decals are really nice, (I used Gofer Racing and some scavenged decals), I like the way they have you install the clear plastic windows, from the OUTSIDE, makes it a lot easier to finish the truck without worrying about smudging or scratching the pieces. I ‘ll be grabbing another one when they’re back in stock.

This is a great kit that has been around a little while. Fitment can be a little bothersome in some areas, mainly joining the chassis and body together because the engine compartment is a bit of a pain. And the suspension is a little wonky.. If you take your time and think it out, it goes together pretty well. After you get it together, this will be one of those kits that you will enjoy looking at for years.
50 Chevy, cool kit
By: scottshaw1965
Amt’s 50 Chevy was a really nice and the instructions were fairly clear this time. I had an issue with inner fender and firewall alignment, but nothing significant. Used some tires and wheels from the parts box that gave it a cool stance with no suspension modifications. Nice little period 6 cylinder engine. Highly customizable kit. Have at it and have fun!
Colorful Model Truck kit
This truck has a vast array of possibilities. I like the options that the model offers for the service truck option. The finish is a wonderful color composition. I look forward to building the kit and the challenge it will provide. The instructions are detailed. The only flaw is no parts map for where the parts are. Otherwise, the kit is awesome.
Fun kit, lots of potential

This will be my third time building this.. The finished product depends on how good your imagination & parts box are... This time will built as a tow rig for the AMT modified trailer instead of the Ford PU-maybe, lol....Anyways I highly reccomend this, less experienced might need help with the bed & cab assy., but the challenge is worth it...
Big SUSPENSION THTIFT MASTER MOTOR
This kit has wonderful detail However I did encounter an error in the instructions regarding placement of the rear window which needs be glued from the INSIDE which must be done prior to adding the interior assembly! I am building a second as a stock 1 ton. BEAUTIFUL
Fun kit I can not get tired of.
This is the second time to build this kit. Such a great and fun kit to build. there are so many ways to build this kit. I plan to build several more of these in many different variations. I highly recommend this kit to all model lovers and builders. Great kit.
Fast,fun, back to basics build.
I enjoyed this one alot. Pretty basic kit so just a little detailing in the engine bay and interior can really stand out. Pretty clean molds, no big issues with fit and some very nice wide whitewall tires turned out a nice stock pickup truck.
Overall, a nice kit
Aside from several parts being warped and needing remolding, it ended up fitting well. Only major flash issues was with the chrome, especially around the trim rings. Engine was nicely detailed. In the end, I was happy with the result.
fun kit to build and one of my favorite trucks!

This is one of the first kits I built when I got back into modelling, it was an easy and fun build, I bought another one to build a rat rod out of- should be fun. this kit went together well and I had no issues with fitment.
Lowrider model

Fun kit, full of possibilities

A fun, basic kit of a great American truck. I have built two, one as a barn find with heavy chipping and another Christmas red with some pine trees in the back for the mantle during the holidays.
50 Chev
I built a version of this kit years ago. It had corvette tail lights in the roll pan. Man I loved that kit! Ima have to get one of these to try to replicate it.
Well worth the price and then some!

A lot more then I expected with this kit! A couple of options to build, nice and clean, no excess flashing and a great decal sheet with the kit!
Great for customizers and stick builders alike

I built this kit to match the cover on the box. Turned out great. It’s one of the nicest kits I’ve built. Kudos to AMT.
A definite build for any Gulf or old school truck fan
