Everything about Alaska is great! Including it's model train!
This is my first model train I've purchased as an adult. I live in Alaska and was a little disappointed that I couldn't get HobbyLinc to ship an Alaska Railroad model to Alaska. But I overcame that obstacle by shipping it to family in NC and then having them re-ship it to me in Alaska. I went with this N scale version because we'll likely be moving to Hawaii next, another place to which HobbyLinc doesn't ship this model. In Hawaii, space is a premium. Therefore, the smaller N scale is ideal. I was nervous ordering the N scale because it's not as common and easily obtainable as HO scale. But I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of this model. The tracks that come with the kit are easy to assemble given their small size and the inclusion of the re-railer track section makes getting the cars on the rails easier. If you find yourself putting the train on the tracks often, I would recommend also getting the E-Z Railer, item # BAC44892.
