great model
I love this. It is the simplest thing in the world to put together, yet the detail, etc. is first rate. It is a great atmosphere builder on my layout. You will want to use glue, even though technically you don't have to. Since most of the gluing is on the inside corners of the structure where it is not visible, I like to use UHU glue. It creates a rubbery glob that will hold anything together; it does not set up fast, so you have time to make adjustments. But then it sets up within an hour or less so you can get on with it and not wait 24 hours. I spray it with gray primer and then use acrylic paints to create all the detail of a wooden structure. Good fun.
Harleysville PA Railroad - Coaling Station
Bachmann Coaling Station - bac45211 This is great kit that fits my layout perfectly. I particularly like the color which stands out nicely against the mountain background. I may weather slightly, but really want to keep the colors sharp. The kit is noted as a “Snap Kit” however, it really does not snap together, nor will it stay together without glue. It was real easy to build and gluing is minimal. I particularly like this station for the simplicity and smaller size, which is what I needed in the tight space. There are several larger, more detailed and complex kits out there, this was just right for me!
Simple But Nice
The kit is easy to assemble but it is best to glue it. I did a lot of sanding and filling to make all the joints fit better. The kit is molded in colors but I painted all the parts and weathered them to give it a more realistic look. I added a metal lining to the coal chute, as well. It will look good on the grandkid's Christmas layout this year.
Tdj not too bad
Some of the snapped tite model structures I've dealt with this one isn't much more than a blind man (fully) unprepared trying to figure out a rubex cube not actually sure if this goes here nor in there not real clear of instructional papers but finished product is alright
Needs glue
I just recently bought this product. The design of the station works great for me on my layout. I have found out that the best thing to do is glue it together. If you accidentally bump it or a train hits it it won't fall apart. I glue all of my buildings together.
simple andlooks good
This kit is super simple to put together. I added some black wash to make the wood stand out some, painted the stairs a lighter color, and painted the footings gray. It took one evening and looks pretty good in my rail yard.
