Reviews : Dora Curtiss Wright CW21B Interceptor Aircraft

This 1/48 scale kit comes from a Ukrainian model company called Dora Wings. Even though I haven’t built a lot kits from them, I do have a bit of grudge on them. The pros for this kit are as follows: You have three paint schemes to choose from and the one I did is on the cover of the box called CW-21B Interceptor “Yellow patrol”, Perak airbase, Java. 2-VLG-IV September 1941. The other two paint schemes included are CW-21B Interceptor “White patrol”, Perak airbase, Java. 2-VLG-IV September 1941 and CW-21B Interceptor, ex-Dutch, captured plane in Japanese markings, Singapore 1945. All three paint schemes have every view possible for painting and placing decals. The decals themselves are quite easy to take off the paper and applied to the aircraft with no tearing at all. The cons for this kit are as follows: The majority of the photo-etched pieces are too thin and too small to work with especially with the throttle controls. The engine assembly instructions were incomprehensible. Two pieces in the instructions were misidentified, for the engine you have piece D6 going on D15 piece when its actually E6 piece. Then you have pieces E25, E26, and E27 attached to E5 piece when its actually E20 piece. The cockpit floor and the engine are slightly too big for the fuselage resulting poor fitting all around. There’s also no brief description of the kit in both the box and the instruction manual. In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 3 stars out of 5. Dora Wings if you’re reading this I highly recommend that this kit goes back to the drawing board as to have preferably no photo-etched pieces and better overall instructions.
