My first 2 stage rocket.
Excellent two stage rocket. Easy build with little finishing required. Instructions on the second stage were a little tricky but the use of tape for an interference fit assured the rocket had a smooth flight. The second stage ignited as planned about 50-75m in the air for a zipping propulsion upwards , lots of fun. Was a bit windy so had a walk of about 1km to retrieve rocket and after lots of searching found all the parts and are ready for another super fun launch. Have since bought more multi stage rockets and looking forward to launching them.
easy, rugged two stage
This is an easy to assemble, rugged, two stage rocket. I bought this rocket as an easy way to try to fly a mini camera, and it worked great! Once I flew it into a tree, and a branch caught a fin full speed, and it didn't break! I'm back to buy a second because I like flying this model so much (My first is starting to show some wear and tear after a lot of launches). I can't imagine a better (easier) introduction to two stage rockets than this one.
great first 2-stage rocket

this rocket is a great kit for your first 2-stage rocket. the one-piece plastic fin units make it very easy to build. And no painting is required! Also, the lower stage slides into the bottom of the rocket with a tube coupler. Some kits attach the lower stage to the rocket only by taping the two motors together, (like the CC express kit). The rocket was stable and flew straight.
Estes Mongoose rocket kit is nice, but...
The Estes Mongoose is a nice rocket, but is really a rerelease of the discontinued 1980's Estes Scorpion, with a different paint scheme, decals, it's 1/2 inch longer and 1/2 ounce heavier. The small booster is the hardest components to find during a launch, so paint brightly. I would use reflective adhesive tape on the fins and it will be easier to locate after launching.
simple - gets the job done.
Nothing hard about this rocket. Plastic fins makes the build quick and easy. Its a good way to get into a 2 stage rocket. It is a tall rocket so you should be able to track it in the sky. Not going to awe anyone with this though - its pretty basic. No painting required.
Good Stager, Poor Quality Tube
This rocket is fun to assemble and is a great 2-stage flier. On the other hand the body tube is extremely flimsy and bends and creases easily. If you get this kit I recommend buying a replacement tube and using that in the construction.
Great start for multi staging
Not the prettiest of rockets in the Estes line, but it's bright, functional, and easy to build. The Mongoose is a great starter rocket for those interested in multi-staging, and it's cheap. It doesn't get much better than that.
OKAY
This is a normal 2 stage rocket. You can customize the livery if you want make sure it is almost a windless day when you launch it.
Good
If you want to get your first 2 stage rocket the mongoose is a good choice. The one downside is the tubes are poor quality
Easy to build 2 stage

Very easy to build. Waiting for a day with wind below 3 mph to launch.
