Versatility in a small package
There are so many ways you can go with the Mini Max. I've built one in every color I could think of with engine combinations from 13mm to 24mm. The decals just say Mini Max, not Red Max, so there's no reason to just stick with red when painting. I've got them in blue, green, yellow, orange, hot pink and gold. The orange version is an 18mm bird with a decent amount of nose weight. It flies great. The hot pink one has a 24mm engine and a LOT of nose weight. It hasn't flown yet due to lack of a field that will hold it, but I'm holding out hope for a late summer, early fall first flight.
Mini Version of the Classic Rocket
This is a mini version of the classic Der Red Max. I bought this for my daughter and painted it pink and used custom Hello Kitty decals to make it Der Kitty Max.
PROS: Great park flier, very stable flights, uses cheap mini engines.
CONS: Balsa nose cone makes for extra construction steps, too small for a parachute (it comes with a streamer).
Classic
What isn't there to love about the mini max... a3-10t and this little guy will pull a disappearing act... then the ejection charge goes off and out comes the streamer... I love sending this guy up... so much win with this rocket... not to mention kids love it too... can't go wrong with the spouse when the kid loves it...

The nose cone is not wood but moulded in white plastic. You would now need black paint to match photos
