Estes 29mm Pro Series II Booster, easy assembly, but can be improved
By: champfluff
The Estes 29mm Pro Series Booster is a nice booster, and an easy assembly, but I would externally vent the booster, through the plastic centering rings, by drilling a small 3mm hole through both centering rings and keeping the holes aligned when drilling and assembling. These small holes will vent the exhaust pressure before the sustainer stage ignites, eliminating premature separation before the sustainer stage ignites, ensuring proper upper stage ignition.
A very useful rocket module

A nice booster for the PSII E2X rockets, but can also be used as a base for your own quick build rocket. Just leave off the staging cone, add body tube, nose cone or payload bay, and recovery system. Voila! Your own E2X! I have trimmed the fin tips and trailing edges to modify the fin shape. Then I sealed the open edges with some black golf epoxy. If you do this carefully, you may not even have to paint the fins!
Great Idea!
This is a very simple to build booster that can work with the newer Pro Series II kits. I bought this one for my Ascender and it works great!
Construction is quick but still creates a strong, solid product.
sturdy plastic fins
The fins are two hollow sections with reinforcing ribs that are to be glued together. This is a very strong design.
Awesome addition to the Mammoth Rocket!

Booster worked as it was intended. We got an awesome slow-mo video of the stage separation!
That extra boost
This was a gift given to a friend along with the Ascender - well worth the extra push
