Guillow civilian aircraft models (300 series)
You cannot find large scale civilian aircraft models in plastic kit format. Only the balsa kit mfgs offer them and they are all very good scale representations - or can be - if they are built as display models especially. The Aeronca Champ '85 works out to a 1/17.5 scale (large scale for a display model) and is a perfect example. The materials provided, plans, instructions, balsa wood, and plastic components are great for building a rubber band flier right out of the box. I use most of the supplied materials but then augment or scratch-build a few things...But no matter what you want to do with this kit - you can do it. The kit is well engineered and designed as are all of the Guillow kits I have built. I can recommend them all. I would only suggest that with the Aeronca you probably want to have one or two previous balsa builds under your belt - rather than have this be your first foray. The Cessna 150 would probably be the best of this series to begin with.
