Reviews : Hasegawa F-104C Starfighter

Kit has very impressive surface details. Also very detailed are the cockpit interior and the landing gears. I liked that the wings are in pieces which allowed me to position the leading edge, flaps and ailerons where I wanted them. I do have a few gripes. The most serious one is the poor fit of the nose cone to the fuselage. It was surprising considering the attention to details elsewhere. Also the assembly for the open air brakes option was bad because they neglected to provide for solid attachment points. The super surface details were a plus but a bit tricky when working the gaps between parts as any sanding caused the disappearance of some of the details and then the need to scribe them back in. My only scratch built add-ons were small inserts to allow the canopy and the large landing gears doors to be cemented in the open position.

This model was nice to build. Not too many parts and there were plenty of decals to choose from. Too bad there was no armament included, that would really made this model. Still it was fun to build and no problem getting parts off the sprues.

Excellent set, excellent Japanese quality. The only thing to complain about is the decals, they are a bit thick.
