Reviews : Hasegawa TF-104G Starfighter

This it being a Hasegawa offering, I was expecting a trouble free build. This however was not the case. While the kit offers excellent detail and nicely scribed panel lines and rivet details, I encountered a few problems with the kit. The first was that my boxing had a fair amount of flash on some parts,especially the nose cone, this was easily removed. I experienced some minor fit problems with the main wheel well assembley fitting into the fuselage properly, which resulted in a rather large gap in the fuselage just aft of the main gear well.I was able to sand the wheel well bulkheads down to where the fit was good and the gap was closed up.The kit required a fair amount of filler to fair the nose wheel well panel into the fuselage.My wheels also had rather large ejector pin marks on the sidewalls that required cleaning up. The rest of the kit was very nice. I especially liked the afterburner and exhausht cone detail. I used the excellent Eduard TF-104G PE cockpit detail set. The decals were excellent. This being my first Hasegawa Starfighter it, some of the diffucilites I experienced may have been due to this. Overall it is a nice kit and produces a very nice model of the TF-104. I would still recommend this kit.

Excellent quality and design build. I have built a number of this brand and all were equally good. This was my favorite, since it simply is my favorite jet aircraft ever.
