Reviews : Italeri House Corner

The Italeri House Corner diorama piece is a nicely detailed accessory to any scene using 1/35 vehicles or figures. The pieces are molded with intricate brick patterns exposed under cracked outer stucco surface of a ruined building. The facade is paintable such that the detail remains for texture and realism. The only cons of this piece are the lack of interior detail and a gaping joint connecting the two pieces of the door wall of the house. There is an easy remedy to those problems, however, that make it quite an interesting piece of work. I used plaster to pour into the interior cavity of the molded walls which served nicely as interior plaster wall surfaces. I used drywall spackling to neatly fill in the gaping joint in the front door wall. Carefully using these modifications complete this piece nicely. If you are willing to put in a little extra labor of love, you will find working with this model an enjoyable experience that results in a nice diorama.

I combined this model with the Church Door section of the same category and made a terrific diorama with lots of possibilities for detailing a battle scene. I placed all the sections in such a way as to get a full perspective of an organized retreat of German paratroopers from the ruins. The depiction of the bombing of the Monte Casino Monastery was the theme I followed by incorporating several Dragon Model figure sets as well. The fit of the building sections were not of great importance as they were to be bombed out buildings! The detailing of the buildings were important however as I used broken plaster for ruins around the walls. This is a superb kit along with it's other part and anything related to depict ruins.

These Italeri kits for adding some small structure to a diorama are pretty cool. They are plastic, not plaster (so not like the Verlinden structure kits) and many may find them much easier to assemble and paint - particularly if having built plastic models before. This is a very old kit, but a huge classic. In my opinion, it is slightly 'under-scale' but this is forgiveable since it's meant to be a building element on very small scale...

Man this has been around for decades and I just couldn't resist using it on my first diorama for the nostalgia. With a little work you can make this a nice part of any city diorama or you can just paint it up and use it as a backdrop, since their is no interior molded. I added some balsa wood flooring, door frame and damaged window frames, and filled the walls with plaster. Now I just have to finish the diorama I plan to use it on.

This looks like it will be a fun piece to weather a simple corner wall. Lots of detail, better than I expected. The only downside I see is that there is no significant structural support to help join the main corner. With this alignment being critical to how the piece will look, I see me having to construct some type of clamping jig to ensure the corner is squared up.

Not real happy with this kit. It only has the outer walls and that is it. Nothing for the inner walls, so you will have to fab your own. Needs rubble at the base and a lot of work. I feel that there are better kits for the money here on Hobbylinc that would really do a better job and look a lot like a destroyed building. -

This is an oldie but goldie...it has not changed in years. It is a great starting point as a background, but needs help such as additional sceanery, rubble, greenery, etc...

good for a small diorama to put a model beside its just a few parts so it will be fast to build and look good painted and weathered

Nice little diorama detail to add subtle detail to any diorama or vignette
