Unlighted, but works
This bumper track has a reasonable likeness of a light duty Hayes bumper mounted to a short piece of track. Like all other Kato HO track products I've seen and used, this bumper track does exactly what it should. It stops cars and locomotives from an unhappy fall to the floor.
The removable plastic post seems to be either a European or Japanese feature, it's not something seen in North American prototypes, but it doesn't come installed and is easily left out.
Not sure why the othe reviewer said the light made this unit incompatible with DCC; there is no light on this bumper track and it works fine with DCC.
Really Nice Bumper with a Couple of Exceptions
Purchased these bumpers to go initially on a DC layout. They look quite nice and ample brightness. However, these are not really DCC compatible as some DCC manufacturers state these are not a good option for DCC layout due to the power draw. The post with light are not permanently attached and can fall out.
