Great replica of the iconic ship
By: jsea96
This appears to be a very good representation of the Space Clipper in 2001 A Space Odyssey. The model has decent amount of details for its size. Fit was pretty good. I used LED strips to light the interior and cockpit. I airbrushed light blue and gray panels to breakup the white surface. The model is slightly weathered with oils. Some negatives: the cockpit window is not correct, and I had to add bars to make it more accurate. The decals are very thick but fragile. The gray panels and black panel lines are too dark. I sprayed a thinned coat of white to tone it down. Note: I ordered afree market decals for the Pan Am logos. Overall, it’s an easy build. With a little bit of work, the completed model looks great.
A Classic Spaceship from My Youth
I saw 2001 when I was about 15 and it actually was a big part of my decision to become a NASA engineer. This was the first spaceship in the movie and so cool. I had one of the original Aurora kits of the Orion, and I still have parts of it, so when Moebius introduced it I was ecstatic. This is a great kit with nice detailing and a great rendition of the classic Aurora kit. I added aftermarket PanAm decals to make it like the movie spaceship. I highly recommend it for any spaceship fan, particularly realistic scifi spaceships, and of course 2001 fans.
