Fit and finish is excellent. Be aware that this model isn't for the impatient, each of the modules on the spine is six parts. The command sphere is empty, so if you want to show the insides of the pod bay you need to purchase add-ons. I had both the Paragrafix and the Green Strawberry addons and used a mixture of both. To get a realistic paint job (multiple shades of gray) it is best to have the aztec masks and an airbrush.
All that said, I had a fun build. Its a big model, so I mounted it on a sheet of black plexiglass and black wood frame. I also added a sound card (Adafruit Sound FX) to add HAL's dialog to the model.
