Quick-Q is indeed Quick to build
Nice quickie kit for saving build time. It went together very well, just needed a little trimming to get the fins inserted into the fin can. It's nice not to have to paint it before you can fly it! Ha! Overall a good looking rocket. I reversed the yellow and violet body tube sections to make it look more like a rocket and less like a toy. As for function, the motor retainer system works smoothly, and is a quick motor install and removal for multiple flights. I think this should be a durable model. I glued an extra body thickness inside ahead of the fin can to make it more resistant to ejection charge damage, which has been a problem for me with Quest motors in the past. We'll see how the newer Q-jets do. A major problem is the molded launch lug, which does not stand straight out from the plastic fin can--probably for easy release from the mold. I tried it on my rods and both the 1/8 and 3/32 were sticky. I drilled the lug out, filed it, and lubricated it, but it still likes to catch, probably because the hole is not round, more of a teardrop shape due to the angle on which it's molded. We'll see if it's a real problem when launching. If so, I'll either cut it off and replace it with a real lug, or perhaps add a front guide to keep the molded one aligned going up the rod.
