Reviews : Revell-Monogram 1/25 Captain Hook 1979 GMC Wrecker

This kit only suffers in that it is originally from a snap together kit, and it isn't the much newer Moebius Ford tow truck. But this is much cheaper and not a Ford. With a little work it can be built into a nice wrecker. The biggest issue is the molded in engine. I cut it out and replaced it with the 454 V8 from the 1972 Nova Old Pro, detailed with some parts from the spares box. Motor mounts were very simple to fabricate using some scrap plastic strips.

Nice kit, not very detailed compared with other truck kits but still a very good offering. No problems with fit and no flash. I didn’t care for the white decal offerings so I used Gopher Racing service truck decals. Finished model looks good sitting next to the plow truck kit on the shelf.
