This kit is descended from a 1986 Monogram tooling that has since been reissued by a few different model companies. I am building this kit now and I'm quite split on it. It has some virtues and can be built up nice, but I don't think it's a good choice for beginners. PROS - This kit is regarded as one of the better ones among its peers for accuracy in shape and dimensions. Some of the competing kits released in the same era are criticized for incorrect nose or wing shapes. - Kit includes a cockpit and pilot with decent detail; sometimes older kits have terrible cockpits but this one you could build out of the box and it would be good; obviously adding in after-market detail would kick it up, but the cockpit and pilot are good. - The plane is modeled with the airbrakes open. That's an interesting feature that adds some detail in a category where most planes just come with plain wings. - Kit includes a large array of bombs, missiles, and tanks for the A-10. Modern kits no longer include this much ordnance so you often have to go after-market to find this much gear. But this kit has a bunch of stuff so you can build the Warthog as dirty as you want. - The kit's popularity and continued reissuing means there are some nice third-party accessories available for it. CONS - Kit takes a lot of work to clean up. I didn't have too much flash on the sprues, but many of the parts are not well designed to fit flush so in my work so far, I feel like half my effort is spent on sanding and cleaning things up. - I also found the engine nacelle assembly not particularly friendly. It's easy to not have the nozzles lined up right unless you're careful. The assembly and the way the parts are designed just leaves a lot of room for slippage. - The airbrakes being open that I mentioned above? That's both a pro and a con. If you want to model the wings in a normal configuration that will take some modifications on your part. Not the easiest build, but a good kit if you're willing to work at it. I would recommend, but with reservations. Beginners should try a different kit first.

I absolutely love the A-10 despite critics who call it ugly. Revell/Monogram’s version is the least expensive on the market if you are looking for 1/48 scale. This is definitely an “A” Model so if you are looking to the current “C” version, check your references as you will have to modify the model. As with most Monogram kits, it goes together well for the most part, but wing to fuselage and engines to fuselage will need some filler and sanding to get a snug fit. This kit was made for ground static display, but despite loading the nose with counter-balance I still needed to use the clear plastic piece to have it stand correctly, especially if you load up the weapons. My biggest issue was painting. I wanted the European I scheme and as I am not checked out yet with an airbrush, I used Testors spray paints. They come in the three colors you need, but masking and painting led to problems and despite what you might think, you cannot use Testors paint in a can to match the color of the spray. I ruined my first effort this way. So, be careful masking! Finally, because I had extra stores, I really loaded my completed model for tank plinking. Revell mentions how the stores should be distributed but if you check references, and have extra parts from other models, you can really go to town. My version has two AIM-9 missiles, jamming pod, three Mavericks on a single station per wing, and CBU 58’s provided with the kit. I was going to load the external fuel tank but resisted. If you used aftermarket weapons stores you could really go crazy. The finished product looks great and I would highly encourage this kit to all modelers. As always have fun.

This is an average quality kit that came with a lot of frustration. I would not recommend this A-10 to an inexperienced model builder due to fit issues, but if you like that kind of challenge then this would be for you. I recently bought a few Revell kits because they are so affordable and they were on sale where I got them. But, with cheap kits comes not so great quality. This seems to be more close to the A-10A, so if you want a more modern Warthog look for an A-10C. It comes with enough weapons to fill all the pylons, but there is not a lot of diversity in them. There are no Sidewinders, rocket pods, or any guided bombs included. The instructions are in booklet form which I like, but can be vague at times when dealing with smaller parts. The decals were great like most Revell kits, and you get a lot of them. Along with the negative fit issues, the detail in the pieces was average, and a lot of pieces had flash left on them. All in all I'm mostly happy with the end result, but I probably won't be getting anymore Revell kit any time soon.

The model itself is nice. Had no problems putting it together. However, there was one problem I noticed immediately in the Model Display Picture, here on the web-site. It has both Ailerons pointed upward. That is totally wrong. Those control surfaces are to make the aircraft roll. They work opposite of each other. When the left aileron goes down, the right aileron comes up, or vice versa. If you push the stick to the right, the right aileron will come up, pushing the right wing DOWN, the left aileron will go down, pushing the left wing UP, and thus the aircraft will roll to the right, and if the pilot pulls back on the stick while it is rolled right, it will turn to the right. How sharply it turns depends on how far the pilot pulls on the stick. If you're building this model, and have never flown an airplane before, then you should have the ailerons pointing opposite of each other. Anybody that has ever flown an actual airplane will automatically know this. If you build it the way it's depicted in the photo, it will be wrong.

Revell is not always the best place to get an airplane model ecpecily with their ww2 models but their modern aircraft including the a-10 is getting better. This the best a-10 for its price considering that other a-10 models are 2 times more money. This kit does have raised detail and the flaps are molded in dive position and it is hard to fix . but other than that tis kit is great it has decals for to options a nice cockpit that you can drybrush to make the gages pop out. The engine is nicely detailed however there is a huge gap between the engines and fusalodge . The kit comes with a nice load of ordince including a fuel tank 6 merkavick agm-65 missiles 8 cbu-52 bombs two napalm canasters and a ecq pod overall this kit is a nice model to add to your display.

I just recently finished building this kit and I was impressed with it. There were some fit issues however. Aligning the two halves of the fuselage caused the nose section to be a little uneven. No matter what I did, I was not able to correct the issue. Also, because of this issue, the windshield did not sit right. Even after filing the past where it sits at, it still didn't sit right. The canopy didn't sit right either. Basically, if the nose section is not aligned correctly, the canopy and windshield section is gojng to be out of whack. I advise that when you go to put the wings and tail section into the fuselage that you do it before you put the engines on as this will complicate thag process. Other than those issues, it was an easy build!

I think this is one of the best 1/48 scale WartHog models on the market.I experienced no real complactions during assembly other than gluing the cannon bay cover in place prior to installing the cockpit tub and nose wheel well. My own stupidity,so had to pry it off,this resulted in some putting sanding and re scribing panel lines,all my own fault.Overall detail is excellent especially in the cockpit,I only had to add a set of shoulder harnesses made of masking tape and fine wire buckles,and painted light grey.This thing comes with enough ordance to make anyone happy.The decals are excellent,depecting two different aircraft.For the price I just think you cannot beat it.I would highly recommend this kit.

This is still the best 1/48 scale version of the A-10 Thunderbolt. The detail is very good, especially the cockpit. A huge array of armament is available as well including six AGM-65 Mavericks, eight cluster bombs, two napalm canisters, an external fuel tank, and an ALQ-119 ECM pod. I had a problem with the split ailerons that are also the speed brakes. They are meant to be poised open and when I tried to close them up it just didn't work out. I found some resin pieces online but I didn't want to wait for them.The molds are starting to show their age because a little flash is showing up here and there. Until Trumpeter or Tamiya can make an A10 in 1/48 for under $30.00 I'll stick with Revell.

This kit is reasonably well-engineered. Parts fit together without any major issues and there was virtually no plastic “flash” to deal with. You do need to add nose weight to get it to sit on the ground properly - for the record, a 45 caliber lead musket ball fits in the nose but is not quite enough weight.....so maybe a few extra fishing shot weights in the nose to the pilot’s right would do it. The landing gear is EXTREMELY detailed, but the instructions could stand to be a little more clear on how to build them. Personally, I’d like to see less landing gear detail and more engine detail in it’s place. But, for a 1/48 scale kit, this one meets or exceeds expectations.

The kit though, is said to have an inaccurate ejection seat. You should fine a resin replacement if you will use an open canopy. Compared to other 1/48 A-10, this one is your best bet.

Still working on mine but it's coming together nicely. My first model in 20years so it's taking me longer than it should. It fits together well but I had trouble with the cockpit. I was really impressed with the amount of detail on the control panel. If you want a challenge try painting all of them. I hosed it up pretty bad but not because of the model. Lots of options for weapons load outs. My only advice is to glue a couple of AA batteries behind the cockpit. The model is very tail heavy.

As I am not a rivet counter I can’t tell you is this model is within a fraction of an inch proper scale but I can tell you with the proper amount of time And care this kit build into a great representation of the subject. Fit is good and the clear parts and decals are nice quality. A good amount of weapons are included as well and this kit makes for a great weekend build... also the pilot included is fairly well detailed and adds to the build quite a bit

In my opinion, the A-10 Warthog is one of the best in our arsenal. If you enjoy building model airplanes, you'll enjoy this one. The detail is very good and decals are excellent. However, I had to spend some time pre-fitting and modifying the wings and still had to use some putty in the assembly. I would not recommend this model to a first time model builder, but for an experienced builder this is a great model.

Pretty good sturdy model to complete from Monogram. Decent detail and comes with a large cluster of payload for you to display under the wing. The model is rear heavy so in order for it to sit on the front nose wheel you will have to use weight in the nose cone or use the clear plastic support in the rear of the plane to give the illusion of the plane standing on its landing gear.

There are gaps in this design, and putty may be necessary to fill gaps in the wings and engine areas. Both times I completed this model, there were gaps in my plane. Be sure to weigh down the front of the plane during construction, as it don't sit flat unless you do so. The instructions mention this, but be sure to do it. Otherwise, your A-10 will pop a wheelie.

This is not only the best 1/48 A-10 kit, it is one of the best A-10 kits in any scale! Superb detail on the surface, cockpit, and wheels! Superb weapons array and a decal sheet which lets you choose either a green or gray jet. Only downside is that the canopy and wing brakes are fixed to the open position.

This kit is very typical of Revell. The detail is very good and for the most part everything comes of the sprues nicely and fit together well. Limited cleanup of what little over flash I found, and some putty and sanding to hide a few obvious seems, produced a rewarding result.

I loved this model. For once, the combat capabilities,and effectiveness of this aircraft was truly brought home by building this model. Piece by piece, the unique characteristics of the plane became apparent. The actual completion of the kit was a learning experience.

This is my third A-10 kit. Really enjoyed building it. The fit is very good. Very slight problem inserting the nose gear package into place. The instructions for that area are a little confusing. Overall I liked it a lot.

The kit parts were easy to assemble, minimum flash on plastic, the plans however were not very clear in some areas. I was able to finally figure the out, but not with several of the decals. Had to wing it.

Great model at a great price. Buy two bottles of base coat, as one is not enough. Some of the pieces were difficult to fit & the instructions were sometimes ambiguous but overall a good model.

Very good model, easy to build. Parts fit well with little trimming; good solid plastic. Easy to paint and decals go on well. Excellent looking menacing armed aircraft when completed.

great kit, loved the weapons assortment. would of liked more detail on the inside of the wheel wells and engines. But other wise really good for a twenty dollar kit.

I was rather pleased with this kit. I thought it might fit poorly considering the cheaper price, but it fit rather well. Decals went on very nicely.

Finally got the tank killer. This is a great model one of the best i have bought.

Very nice challenge for those who love war planes.
