Beautiful B
I had never built this kit before and seeing the detail everywhere on the exterior was a surprise. The only bummer was that it was highly raised which I lightly sanded down. I did this because I wanted to paint on the alternating black and white patterns from the box art. The detail being so high I had a problem getting clean lines. The decals are nice but do not supply the stripes needed. Don't get me wrong, the detail overall is wonderful. The engine was nicely done although you see very little of it when completed. The flash was kept to a minimum and the fuselage halves fit very well. A little filler was needed on the bottom but the top seam was flawless. My only complaint at all is that the clear cockpit pieces took a lot of effort to fit together correctly. Once finished, this plane is an outstanding representation of the B Version Mustang.
Revell P-51B mustang
Though this is a re-issue of an older Revell kit, with just new decals it still is a nice kit. For a long time this kit was the only 1/32 scale kit of the B model aviabale. The kit offers nice detail, even though it is raised instead of recessed, for me this it not a major problem. With the amount of aftermarket details noe aviabale , this kit will produce a stunning redention of this famous aircraft. Fit of parts is good, with only a minor amount of flash present. Eduard offers a PE cockpit detail set, and True Details has a Resin wheel set. And G Factor offers a Bronze landing gear set. All of which I obtained for my kit. If you want a 1/32 P-51B for a reasonable price, this kit is it. I would recommend this kit.
Outstanding
This kit was well worth waiting for. For those who ordered this and is curious why the Effeil Tower is the back drop...it is because the young pilot, Capt. William Overstreet from Big Island VA. pursued a ME-109 down from approx. 16000 feet and followed the 109 beneath the tower and shoot the 109 down coming out the other side. I had the pleasure of seeing Capt. OOverstreet a few years back at the D-Day Memorial in Bedford VA. where he enjoyed volunteering. The model itself is very good, with fine detail. I have just started work on painting the cocpit, wheel wells, engine etc. Very beautiful. one minor negative--there is some flash but nothing major.
Timeless classic
LOTS of flash but that is to be expected from molds that over 35 yrs old. Raised rivets that are slightly over done but easily corrected with light sanding. No engine detail but it will be invisible once fuse halves are closed up. Careful painting will bring out cockpit details nicely. Aftermarket photo etch instrument panel and seat belts/harnesses are recommended. Overall shape and dimensions are still the best out there. Parts fit is good although be prepared to spend time with sanding sticks and paper to clean it up the way it deserves. A classic, everyone needs at least one. Very affordable. Good bang for the buck
Not a great kit
The lack of interior detail and poor fit makes this kit a challenge to build. The canopy is particularly problematic, requiring lots of filler for large gaps. Lots of flash also. This might be a good kit for someone who wants to do a lot of aftermarket or scratch building work, or someone who wants to work on their sanding and puttying skills. I would not recommend for novice builder as it would just frustrate them. The price is good though for a 1:32 scale kit, so you get what you pay for.
there are better options.
this seems to be a pretty old molding. at first glance you have some pretty nice details, engine, frames and cockpit. look a little deeper and all the exterior detail is raised and overdone. the kit I got didn't fit very well. the decals are basic with no stencils.
could be better!
I would not waste your money on this kit. The decals don't stick and if you are planning on using the landing gears, they are very unstable . The exterior detail is good, but the canopy fit is bad. Like others say you get what you pay for!

Authentic
This is a good aircraft kit. Nice details, decals, and easily assembled. Recommend.
