Commission Build
By: sagtbone
I recently acquired this kit for a commission build. Upon opening the kit,I found everything to be sealed in plastic bags. I was disappointed as there was no options to build a custom version. But I soon discovered it is an excellent kit that is easily customized. There was very little flash. However, I did sand it to remove any mold lines and to give it a surface the paint could attach to. This model went together very easily. I had no problems with fitment except for the cab fitting unto the chassis, but that was due to my fault as I wired the engine and the spark plug wires got in the way as the engine was a snug fit into the engine bay. But the rest of the kt went together without a hitch. The decals were very nice especially the wooden bed floor decal. I used some decal solvent and it laid down easily and it looks great. The only complain I have is there should have been some instructions about the the tailgate decal letters. The decal letters are individual letters and I tried to place them on as one piece. This created a problem as I misplaced a few letters but I found them stuck to my fingers. I managed to get them on the kit but not perfectly. The interior tub went in easily with a friction fit and did not require any glue. The windows are separate pieces but I installed them easily with some Mod Podge. If you want t build an old work truck or shop truck you can't go wrong with this kit. And this kit can be easily customized as I lowered it an installed larger wheels and tire. I believe this kit could be good kit for a new modeler. It would be a great kit to step up from snap kits to glue kits. I will give this kt a 5 out of 5.
Welding truck!
By: Tex Jester
About all I can comment on is the frame, front and rear suspensions, body (including top and hood), and part of the interior - the rest are 3D printed!
Products from VCG by Reese (www.vcgresins.com) - small block Chevy engine with weekender upgrade and transmission, brake booster, battery, 10 bold GM rear end (had to cut off the kit's rear end from the suspension), steering wheel, t-handle floor shifter, custom bench seat, and the welder bed (with all the related tools! See the pictures.). I used a photo-etch upgrade set, including the cab grills and badging. Hubcaps are Parts by Parks.
Overall, the kit itself goes together with little trouble. Few mold lines, flash is minimal, fit is great. The interior has separate door panels making detailing easier. Window fit is good. Dash detail is excellent - if your hand is steady enough, you can easily paint the gauges.
The roof has a separate piece; the back of the cab is separate; the hood has 4 pieces. They assemble easily enough. A tip - paint the cab and roof separately, then put the roof on AFTER you're done with the cab.
One note - the decals have a dial for the radio - in the FM frequency! The radio on the dash has an AM dial....
I didn't build the bed, so ... it comes as one piece with the tailgate as a separate piece; the taillights and tailgate latching are the most complex part of the bed. The wood floor decals are nice.
Overall, a nice kit. I think it's more a Level 3 than a 4.
Not a bad build

Overall this kit is a fairly straight-up Revell. Most parts fit well and little flash. I did encounter a couple of problems requiring some modification. If i glued the steering wheel with the tab on the column in front of the dash, then it sat way too high. If I glued it with the tab on the underside of the dash, then the column was too long to clear when I tried to slide the seat/floorboard inside of the cab. I glued the tab under the dash, then snipped the column back so it would clear. Additionally, the tail gate was a hair too wide to fit in the designed notches in sides of the bed, and didn't leave room for the caps containing the tail lights/backup lights. I had to sand the tail gate to shorten it. They left the red lenses out of the kit so I had to fill in the tail light sockets with red transparent paint. Aside from these problems everything else went together well.

I love this truck it is a great addition to my truck dioramas and garages I love building trucks and this one definitely has a lot of different ways you could build it and that’s the beauty of this truck you can chose to lift it lower it keep it stock height or what ever else you can imagine I definitely am going to put another one in our stash and you can not complain about the price on this truck Pros: easy on the wallet, Very detailed, nicely casted, lots of possibilities, great for dioramas CONS: minimal flash if you are thinking of picking up this kit then do it it is a lot of fun to build this kit and you will have a lot of fun with it and it will look good for dioramas or whatever you want to make it for and it looks really good for my diorama on classic trucks

I personally didn't like this build , the body , bed ,and hood , were pieced together , they should have been injection molded as single parts , this made the kit a tedious exercise in fitting , sanding , and fitting , parts that should have been ready to paint and place , the extra effort going into all the extra work didn't add to the finish of the end result ,too much work going in for what you're getting out , a ton of fitting and sanding for a mediocre product , that being said I would not suggest this kit to anyone , I had to alter the suspension drastically to archive the stance I wanted wheel , rim and , tire were sub par, with rims poorly fitting and not fitting into the tires very well at all,
This is one of those kits you should get.
The details are astonishing way up to the clear headlights and the transparent red taillights. The truck’s bed does a fine job of simulating the wood panels and just painting them will give it a realistic appeal. This truck has been reissued in a variety of forms such as the 2n’1 version to the current one. The chassis comes in two parts which make it easier to piece the cabin and bed together. You need to do some modification to make the bed line up to the cabin, though. Also, the front bumper is a little off to the driver’s left so you will need to make some adjustments to center it. Dish out those wipers because they are too fat and long. It’s better to use photo-etch wipers if you want that realistic look.
This is a very forgiving kit
Revell did a great job with this one. When finished you will have the grandfather of the Silverado and S10. The kit goes together really well. As someone else mentioned, the fit between the front cab and the undercarriage is wonky, but nothing that can't work. Molded in white which helps a lot with spotting issues and taking paint. 112 parts which you will use all of them. What you get for what you pay makes it a real value, and the decals alone are worth the price of admission! They are in perfect register and really compliment the model. I didn't use the commercial flashes, but I did use the decals for the engine, dash and wooden bed.

Classy '66
I built this one so i can display it on my 6 car hauler, what a great addition! I painted it flat dark green, which fits the era perfect. I was kind of thinking of converting this model to a free steering front end project, but there was not enough room under the front quarter panels and front shock and king pin areas. Still looking for a truck or car model that has opening doors and movable steering though. Overall a great model to build. I will upload many pictures of my collection soon.
The Build Was A Lot of Fun

This was a great build with terrific detailing. The decal sheet is phenomenal. With decal softener the wood trim decal lays right in the bed of the truck. The only issue I had was with the hood. I discovered the fitting issues late, so make sure you address the hood before paint. Other than that I love this truck. The wheels and tires were fantastic. I would get the kit again just to snatch up those rims and tires.
Two thumbs up!
Great kit. This is one of those must buy kits. Lots of detail and excellent casting. This truck offers lots of possibilities for different builds. I chose this truck for my first stab at a weathered landscapers truck and had a ball! Only wish would be for opening doors and perhaps a straight 6 engine option besides the 283. I plan to purchase a couple more to do a lowered full custom and a jacked up mudder.

This is a very well designed kit, that has been around a little while. Fitment can be a little bothersome in some areas, mainly joining the chassis and body together. If you take your time and think it out, it goes together great. Fantastic decal sheet. This will be one of those kits that you will enjoy looking at for years. Can't go wrong with an old Chevy truck.
Fun model

This is my first time of using the body and a few other parts from a kit and match it with a resin kit. The resin kit came from Badger Scale Models. Added fuel
lines, battery cables, and resin pedals.
All of the box parts fit excellent with the body having no dents or mold lines to fix. Fit for resin kit took considerable time and patients to assemble...
Nice kit
Nothing particularly good or bad about this kit . Average amount of clean up,little bit of sanding here and there to get proper alignment to parts. No outstanding detail, but with all that being said, if you've got a well stocked parts box you can make this a very nice looking truck. This is a great starting point kit if you like going the extra steps
Great kit for experienced builders
By: canadianturbo
The kit has some challenges but builds out very nice in the long run.
Careful fitting and lots of mockups are required to make a straight factory fresh truck.
The design of the interior tub and floor allow cutting and opening the doors fairly easily.
I've built 3,stepside,panel and this fleetside and have another in house for future
Excellent Kit!

I don't build too many trucks, but I'm really glad I bought and built this one. It has lots of parts with some really nice details. Everything fit together really well and the only real issue I had was getting the bed to line up right. Just a few minor adjustments fixed that. This one come highly recommended!

Everything was fine, a side view mirror brittle, had to re-glue after cut off sprue. And hood did not fit per instructions. Did some alterations on it to fit properly. All in all it was fun but disappointed in brittle part and hood issue.
custom 66 k5 concept
By: Low07_nbs
the truck was first built laying frame with a modded stock floor and frame, got bored then made it a bodydropped unibody k5 with no roof, sectioned and chopped windshield, took the frame off for a different project
Another nice Chevy pickup
By: vbussie07
This is a fun kit to build. Parts fit well, hardly any flash to clean up. Had 1 tire that was screwed up but I'm sure that was a fluke, luckily I have plenty spares. All in all, worth your time and money
Very nice kit.
This kit is incredible! Great detail! And my kit had almost no flash! Revell also makes a Suburban version that is the same build, just different decals and more windows obviously. Highly recommend this kit!

This is a very nice kit. The fitment is great with exception of having to assemble the hood. that is a pain. I like the finished product.
Great model
I built this model a month ago. Very good instructions to understand parts are very detailed. For the experienced modeler only.
