Reviews : Roden Siemens-Schuckert D.III

This 1/32 scale kit comes from a familiar Ukrainian modeling company called Roden. The pros for this kit are as follows: You have three paint schemes to choose from and the one I did is Siemens-Schukert D.III, serial unknown, flown Staffelführer(Section leader) of Jasta 4(Fighter Squadron 4) Oberleutnant(First Lieutenant) Ernst Udet. France, Metz, 1918. The other two paint schemes included are; Siemens-Schuckert D.III, serial unknown, Jasta 15, flown by Ltn. Vallendor, 1918 and Siemens-Schukert D.III, serial no. D.1611/18, Kest 4 b(Kampfeinsitzerstaffel: Combat Single-Seater Squadron, a predecessor to Jasta units), flown by pilot Kessler, May-June 1918. The majority of the components fit well although I did end up using some spackle in the fuselage. The building process for the most part, was straight forward. The cons for this kit are as follows: For some unknown reason, regardless of what version you’d like to do, they don’t show the right side of the aircraft. The decals for the wings are slightly too big and I ended up having to trim them in the process. They’re also kind of hard to take off the paper and are extremely delicate and I accidentally tore some of them in the process. In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 4 stars out of 5. Roden if you’re reading this I highly recommend that you make your decals a little easier to get off the paper and make them more durable as well. I also recommend that you need to include the right side views of your kits. Otherwise one unlucky builder would have no idea what the right side of the aircraft looks like until it’s too late. Other than that, I believe this is a solid kit you have here, there’s just some issues that prevented me from giving it a perfect rating.
