Reviews : Tamiya A6M2B Zero Fighter (Zeke) w/Marking Options

This was my first experience with Tamiya and I was blown away. The detail is phenomenal. They definitely did their research when designing it. The cockpit is beautifully detailed and complex on its own, but could be improved with some PE details. The part fit is incredible and required no filler or sanding. The instructions were very detailed and left nothing to be interpreted. The canopy comes as separate pieces so it can either be made closed or a varying degree of open. The provided schemes all reflect aircraft from the initial Pearl Harbor assault and each is well done. However, Tamiya have made a slight error with their paint callouts. A few colors they call for are incorrect and should be researched elsewhere to correct. Examples are the base color which they say is light grey and should be green-grey and the cowling which they call black when its closer to a very dark blue. If you do your own research for the colors, there is nothing wrong with this kit and I would recommend it to anyone with a moderate level of experience and patience for detailed kits.

Another little gem from Tamiya. This kit is a quick build with limited parts. But don’t let that full you, the kit is full of detail and options. The kit comes with 2 gray sprues and 1 sprue for the clear parts. The canopy can be open or closed. Fit is awesome with no issues. If a part is not fitting, it is probably due to builder error. The trickiest part of the kit is figuring out which plane you want to build. There are markings for 8, yes 8 different planes. There are subtle differences between some of them, so pay close attention to your choice. A great model for the price and ease of build.
