Good Value from Tamiya
I really enjoyed building Tamiya's IJN Light Cruiser Yahagi. All of my ships are the waterline configuration. This kit has all of the Tamiya qualities for detail and fit. You will not have to do any trimming or filling, the ship comes ready to build. Instructions were clear and concise. Painting guide was good. The linoleum brown decking gives the ship a very different look, but a good one at that. For the cost, this is an excellent value and you will be very pleased with the finished model. As a bonus, Tamiya includes two sprues with various armaments, planes, search lights, life boats and extra decals. These are great for spare parts or if you want to do an upgrade on this or other ships.
Simple but fun
This is a pretty basic kit. The hull and deck comes as one molded piece, so at least there’s not as much fiddling. It’s a beautiful light cruiser, and it works very well with Toms Modelworks IJN light cruiser photo etch kit. Everything fit well, the directions were clear. There was some slight imperfection in the molding of the deck, but it was an easy fix with a little putty. Overall, this is a fun little kit.
