Decent model, but instructions are lacking
It's been several decades since I put together a model, but I distinctly remember models having better instructions, including what paints would be needed to complete the model. The exterior packaging on this model is absent that type of information, so you are left wondering what else would be needed even though there is a statement that reads paint and glue not included. So, you are left needing to open the box and examine the inside contents to determine what else is needed. The default color of the model is beige, which is fine for desert type scenario upon which this model is set. The tracks are made of rubber and there are basic instructions for putting together the model. There are some guidelines for painting the model men that come with the tank, but not for the tank itself. You get a slight indication from the decal paper as to a paint scheme for the tank, but no reference to colors or any kind of color schemes. Fortunately, I play a certain video games that has this tank and the various paint schemes for desert camo, so I have a reference from which to work. All in all, the model is fine, but the instructions need a lot of work. Considering this was the first model I purchased in a while, I expected more, but for the price I can make it work. However, I doubt I would ever buy models made by this manufacturer unless there was no other choice.
A Great Starter Kit
Tamiya came out with this kit in the mid-1970s as the production number shows, 09 out of how many types of kits now? This kit started my serious model building binge for a number of years and is a worthy kit as I remember, I still have the chassis of the kit used as another type of German fighting vehicle, which is exactly what they used to do. The parts fit well enough for those modelers just getting into Tamiya and the figures that come with the kit are off by today's standards but remain a classic start with all of us. All of the figures are equipped with the weapons of the era and are in fact in the correct North African campaign uniform for the era. I would recommend that the camouflage used by the Germans is more of a Yellow than sand but variations were all over the battlefield and nearly every vehicle was sand blown down to almost bare metal within weeks of a fresh paint job, so anything goes. There is enough character in this kit to want to have another completed one in my collection as a reminder of the fun of having a real classic Tamiya kit.
Tamiya 1/35 German Panzerkampfwagen II kit #TAM35009
This nice little kit from Tamiya has indeed been around for some time now, having built my own back in 1997. It is a fairly simple build, and thus ideal for beginning tank modelers, yet results in a nicely detailed unit. The tank itself is a good rendition of the PzKpfW II ausf. F of the Africa Corp. (with turret rear bustle), sometimes unofficially called the ausf. G. The tread system is also good for beginners, being of the long rubber strip type, but more experienced/detail-orientated builders would likely appreciate if an updated version of the kit included optional molded sectional or individual link variety tread. The inclusion of the 4 Africa Corp. troop figures and crewman make for a decent dioramic scene, and is nice for the price. Because of the price, it does make a good test-bed for relatively inexperienced builders/painters. Overall, the kit is of good quality and is nicely detailed, and I would recommend it to others.
Good Fun Kit
By: Rmackert59
First tank model I have built in over 40 years - near when the molds were new. The kit is simple and fun to build. There is some overlapping of the molds so the will be sanding and some carving to be done especially on the mg and cannon. But with a little patience and drilling out the barrels they came out nicely
The tail pipe pinged into the ether but I replaced it with a rod warmed up and bent with kadee couple pliers then drilled out and I think I had a much better result.
The painting instructions are in Japanese. You would think that at some point over 40 years someone at Tamiya would notice. Sigh. Found nothing on utube that was helpful so settled on XF 60. Used a airbrush for the first time ever and am very happy with the results. I am going to post the results here also.
Is it the most detailed kit - no. But I am very happy with the build and that's all that counts.
Great classic kit, can't beat the price!!
By: jamie
At this price, you have to build one of these!! It's one that's been around since I was a kid. I decided I had to finally build one! It's a great fun little kit. I decided to use it as an excuse to try out Vallejo chipping medium. I painted it panzer grey, sprayed the chipping medium and then Afrika Korps yellow and chipped with water and a brush. It worked quite well. The tracks are no problem, just heat up your x-acto in a candle and press down on the pins. They will melt and form plastic rivets to hold the track together. Just try to hide the seam under a road wheel.
A great kit for a beginner or an expert that needs a fun project between long builds. Also a great way to practice painting and weathering techniques. I made sure to beat up the fenders and stowage boxes with dents and bullet holes for a more realistic look.
what is the Problem with Rubber tracks???
Why can't any company make a decent Rubber track??? Nice Model.. for a 1/35 the parts are a little small and the mini's for the troopers are a lot too big.. but the rubber tracks are 1/2 inch too darn short I play Warhammer 40,000, a miniature wargame in 28mm scale.. So planes are 1/48 and tanks are mostly 1/35 scale to fit on the tables.. my Imperial Guard army uses alot of tanks and armoured cars, and I like using WW2 models for the details. I just wish that these companies that make the model would make the tracks Just a little longer.. 1/2 inch or so.. almost every model tank that is on the market has this problem... this little model tank has to be the worst i have ever run into.. maybe instead of a Rubber track... put in the option of a hard plastic track.. skip the moving track parts that never work anyways..
great kit for beginners and inexpensive
By: joshuaacourter
This tank is small but fun to build and great for beginners. It was my first tank/vehicle I ever built. Pretty good detail as far as the tank and the men have quite a bit to. the tank has some accessories like an ax a jack tool box shovel sledge hammer and so on and so forth. you can do two versions A or F. The track is rubber the turret spins the barrel go's up and down you can glue the hatch open or closed and comes with African Corps decals and European version decals. There is the tank commander and 4 solders. you can glue the men's arms and they com with lots of accessories. you can choose to put deserts helmet or regular infantry helmets on the men but some are in shorts! : ( You can put the tank commander in the tank or out. in all ITS A GREAT LITTLE TANK AND YES I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ITEM! TO ALL.
Great kit! Tamiya is still the best bang for your buck!
Tamiya kits are still my favorite. In my opinion they are the best bang for your buck. I got back into the hobby in 2019 after being away from it for over 30 years. This is a old kit with one piece rubber band style tracks. Some may like individual track links, but to me they are a pain and not worth the price. Don't get me wrong, I think they look great, especially if you are doing a diorama with thrown track. But by the time I am done painting them with with wear and weathering, I think they look fine. This kit is very easy to build. Like most Tamiya kits they have very little flash. The detail is very good for such a old kit. The only thing I did extra that I did was to drill out the gun barrels with a X-Acto knife. This tank comes with 5 figures as well.
A Newcomer's Insight
By: Eric Shade
This is a splendid model for both newer and experienced modelers. This was my 3 land based vehicle model. The kit is simple enough to put together for the inexperienced and will allow for a quick build for those who have been modelerso for quite some time. The only issue I had was getting the rubber tracks onto the tank. I had someone hold the tracks onto the tank while I used a hot nail to melt the tracks together. An interesting way to make a tool that alows you to handle the hot nails is to simply cut down a strip of wood to be about 1x1x3 and then hammer a nail halfway through the smaller face. I found this to be the easiest yst to apply the tracks to the tank. All in all I had a great time with this kit and I would recommend it to all.
A decent model for a beginner on a budget. Other than that....
By: patmcau
Feels too much like a toy trying to become a model. I would rate it a good model project for a beginner. It doesn't get 4 or 5 stars in my book because of a couple of issues that have existed since the first time I built it over 40 years ago. The first is the front sprockets. Because of the way the sprockets mount with the poly-caps, the tracks have a tendency to pull the sprockets inward and they can end up crooked. I also had to do a fair amount of plastic removal to make the sprocket mounts fit squarely to the hull. Same thing happens with the back wheels. I also don't like the way the spare track connects to the front. It isn't very solid. I would recommend this only for a beginner on a budget.
Small but fun tank
The Tamiya German Panzerkampfwagen II was a fun, simple kit to assemble. The builder can choose to build a European version, or an Afrika Corps version. The kit comes with a tank commander and 4 infantrymen (with the option to use Afrika Corps desert helmets or regular infantry helmets - although some troops are in shorts). As with most Tamiya kits, accessories(shovel, jack, section of extra tank tread, crowbar, etc.) come stock. The completed kit is rather small (as was the real tank) and is completely dwarfed by other WWII tanks such as the Panther and Tiger. The contrast with the larger tanks gives it some character though, in my opinion.
Easy and cheap!
By: Rocketlock
Tamiya continues to pave the way in affordable and superior model products. This Pnz 2 kit is small, so be careful not to snap things if you are a beginner. But other then that all the parts fit perfectly, you can add figurines and detail how you want with the classic box look of many German tanks. It's also quite cheap. Honestly the cheapest tank model I've seen from Tamiya, the box is very cute. It took me about 5 hours to build it but honestly it could take less of you wanted too. Like i said just know some parts are small. I'd recommend this just due to how cute it is compared to my Sherman or M10
Great Little Panzer II
By: leonidas117
Being my first tank build in a over a decade, this was a great way to get back into building armor. Tamiya quality shows throughout, and although it is an older kit, the flash was non existent and parts fit perfectly. Decals were numerous and build options were available too, allowing you to build more that one variant of the tank. You can't go wrong for such a cheap price and I highly recommend this tank for those just getting into the hobby or for someone more experienced who just wants to complete a quick build without complications of PE or a high parts count. Again, highly recommended!
Adding another builder to the fold
Grandson wanted to build his own model. I had built one of these awhile back and decided to get this for him as it is an easy build. We both got this model and a Stug IV kit. He started this one first and built about 90% by himself with suggestions from me. This is a good kit for beginners as it's not complicated nor many parts. He went with the dark yellow coloring and I went with German Gray. He had a great time and has already started his Stug IV, loves to paint the tank and figures. If you want to get someone started in modeling this is a great kit to begin with.
nice for an older kit
By: stephenpointon
at a little over $10 how can you go wrong? OK so its an older kit but it is a good starting point in the hobby and apart from the motorizing mods (these can be covered up if you want) it is nicely detailed and molded well,. The addition of a commander in the turret is a nice touch. If you demand ultra accurate and ultra detailed then you could spend 3 to 5 times as much on the same type by another manufacturer but for most mortals this is kit is fine.
A good one for younger modelers starting the hobby or people who want to get back in the hobby without spending a lot.
Fun model
Nice model, easy to follow instructions and a decent amount of detail! The figures are pretty good as well and come with plenty of accessories. Only problem was the wheels. They made a mistake in production and I ended up with 14 gear wheel holders instead of 4 gear and 10 road wheel holders haha no biggie I managed for form the road wheel holders but trimming the ones that came but that meant the wheels do not turn now :-( but still looks great! Still recommend as the figures are good too and you can't beat the price, in fact I'm ordering another set haha
great model!
By: merin.vlcek
I got this for testing weathering etc. It was sort of how I expected it, a more of a beginners kit etc. And believe it or not, it was actually a fun build! Not a LOT of flash which is impressive for an older kit. DonĂ¢â‚¬â„¢t purchase the french campaign one. Its way mor expensive, and they both are highly similar. Like I did to mine, I changed it to a winter campaign(Basically IĂ¢â‚¬â„¢m saying you can easily customize this one to a french campaign instead of paying +20 dallors) . But anyways I highly recommend the model! great price!
Another great kit from tamiya!
Small kit
By: mattkauff7
This is an older kit of a small tank. Not many parts or details which makes it great for people getting into the hobby, something quick to build, and for the price and time it takes to build it is a great practice piece to try weathering and washes, such as the AK interactive wash for DAK vehicles. Aside from the tank you also get 5 figures, 1 tank driver and 4 infantry in the kit. Instructions are very easy to follow. The only downside to the old Tamiya kits such as this one are the rubber band tracks can be tight and are the hardest part of part of model.
Pleasure to build, excellent beginner model
By: roycraft3
The quality, detail, and fit on this model is superb. All the parts fit together nicely. The chassis fits very snugly onto the deck and turret. The wheels/drive sprocket have the rubber padding inside, giving a very smooth rotation.
This model is excellent for beginners, and experienced modelers wanting to experiment with painting. It is very easy and quick to build (took about an hour for me). The end result is still highly detailed, from the exhaust to the various stowed boxes. This is definitely one of the more pleasurable models to build.
Great for Beginners
By: roberthaskell5
This is an excellent Tank Model for beginners Want to get your son into a good hobby??. One does not feel overwhelmed by too many pieces. Smaller than other Tanks, but makes you appreciate the dimensions of all other Tank and accessories you may have already built. Has the all important action figures 4 total to add to realistic image of an actual War action taking place. ONE HELPFUL NOTE ON ASSEMBLING ANY TANK TRACKS.......if you are having trouble snapping or gluing tracks together, USE A STAPLER!!!!. Makes a nice tight fit!!!!!
Inexpensive and Better Than Expected, Good Kit
By: smiffy93
Usual Tamiya kit and very inexpensive. Good representation of the vehicle and from all the images very popular. Tamiya color plastic excellent for Afrika Korps and turned into a small diorama so check out those images. Glad I found this kit, easily assembled and the instructions actually clear and accurate. The figures with this kit are exactly the same mold as those that come with the Hanomag so that was extremely disappointing. Maybe I will follow other's lead and purchase a few of these and try a Panzer group scenario.
Great First build!
By: edcpreacher
This was my first tank build and my second model build back into the hobby. The instructions were easy to follow and the model fit together very easily. NO issues with the kit. Everything from the history to the final touches was made easy. I like the rubber tracks. They were easy to assemble. I had to use Google translate for some of the insignia, but just a minor inconvenience. The price was exceptional! It's a great first kit for paint because if you stick to F version, it's a single color minus the weathering.
Small Tank, Big Fun
By: sick_tom
This kit has been around forever but don't let that turn you away. It's not super detailed or complex but it is a good quality build. The molds were quite clean considering the age and the parts fit really well. The figures are actually quite good also. It's a pretty easy build making this a great intro model or a good one for younger modelers. The downsides are the rubber band style tracks and the motor holes on the underside of the hull. However, those cons are of little concern when compared to the low price.
Very fun build for a great price.
This is an older kit first produced in the 70Ă¢â‚¬â„¢s but itĂ¢â‚¬â„¢s still that famous Tamiya quality.
Amazing value at this price point. Good exterior detail of Germanys most common tank at the start of WWII. Goes together with great ease and all the parts fit right where they should like magic.
The only con is no interior details at all but at this bargain price thatĂ¢â‚¬â„¢s not a big deal. I highly recommend, this is a great piece to build your skills on before moving on to tanks costing 4 times as much.
Review of Tamiya 1/35 Panzer II kit
By: bobbystrash28442
Despite the low price, this kit was of surprisingly good quality. No flash and little in the way of mold lines. Assembly was relatively simple. The only thing I would mention to those who read this review is that the tracks can be a bit tricky. I would follow the instructions, and use the heated nail trick it recommends when installing the tracks to the vehicle. The supporting infantry is a nice little bonus, and just adds to the bang for the buck this kit offers.
Fun kit and easy
This kit is a excellent for beginners! All the parts went together just fine. Low part count but had awesome details with the tools and such. Great for a beginner painter to paint weather and such. For the price of this kit and what it comes with is unbeatable! I really enjoyed this kit when i was painting it and building it!! I will definitely buy more and make a awesome diorama with them and give to if anyone I know is thinking about starting this hobby!
This old girl still has what it takes
By: Larry E (NYC)
Another of Mr. Tamiya's early molds - the Panzer II is still a great introduction to the hobby. The kit has two build options, and the fit is fantastic. The kit includes 5 figures suited for the North African campaign. This was one of the first Tamiya kits I ever built and I still have it somewhere. Started my love for early Panzer I, II & III.
Its still a winner and was the first kit I bought for my nephew when he showed interest in kits.
Good quality and options
By: bravo1017
I had to do some research to pick which variant to build, since the decal and painting instructions were not in English. I built mine in the Africa Korps version. Would like to get another and build it in Panzer grey. Coming back to this hobby has been exciting because of the volume of historical information online. Building my recent kits have been fun, learning about how they were developed and used in battle as been the icing on the cake!
Super fun little kit
By: semmel61
How great is Tamiya's engineering!? this kit went together without a hitch. Small part count makes it a quick build and you get to the painting in a snap. would have appreciated a bit more detail and wish that some of the details (a fer of the tools) were separate sprue items rather than being molded to the upper hull, but this is mold is almost as old as me. Still it is a dream to build. Go get this kit!
Great Beginner Model
By: zip360
This was one of my first models I have ever built and it was fun and simple to build. The model is and easy build and everything fits well together. The only problem I had with this tank was assembling the tank's tracks which took me a while to do. Other than the tracks, the model was a great build. I would recommend this model to anyone who is interested in building a tank whether you are new to modeling or not.
Nice little Tamiya tank
By: stpb1
Nice little tank by Tamiya. Easy build, in my opinion, good for beginner modelers. Can be built in either, the Afrika Korps version, or the early European war version. Includes four infantry figures, representing the Afrika Korps, and one tank crewman.the figures are very good detail, but some are not capable of standing without some sort of base to balance them. Overall, still a great, fun to build kit.
Nice little tank
This is an awesome kit! Very easy to assemble and comes with very detailed instructions. This was my first tank that I've built and for my first it was a lot of fun. I painted it with custom colors so it does not look like the cover portrait. I only have brown paints available so that's what I used. Overall this is a nice kit and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a beginner in building tanks.
Good Deal!
This is definitely a great deal for armature model builders. It it a simple kit and easy to use. It was a little tough when doing some of the main body work as it may require you to do some extra detail. I converted mine into a 1939 version. Didn't like the whole Afrika Corps style. Figures are highly detailed and very accurate. I think I will purchase this again in the near future and make another :)
This would be a perfect FIRST model
I built this model when I was about thirteen. I just built the same model at sixty. It was just as much fun now as then. This model is easy, straightforward and very modeler friendly. The parts are flash free and not so numerous. The figures are less than modern-standard, they are perfect for learning painting techniques. The price is so worth it. Just get the model and you will not be disappointed.
German Panzerkampfwagen II
Apparently this was a rerelease of a older model. However, the model was easy to build with few problems. I enjoyed the build and have ordered another one that I want to do in a different como scheme. The only issue I had was the adecal and painting are in Japanese and Tamiya indicated although the kit is still in production the only decal/painting sheet is in Japanese.
a golden opportunity
the purchase of even this affordable kit includes the opportunity to create an account and join a large community of like-minded hobbyists. your personal account establishes a record of your achievements and exposes it to those you choose. member galleries are an important resource when planning your next project, and your contributions will be greatly appreciated
Fun Build
By: JesusFreak
This particular model was very fun and easy to build. All the parts fit together well. There was very little flash if any. The turret rotates well enough, and there is provision for including a little battery powered engine. Five full figures and their gear adds to the value of this already inexpensive model kit. I would highly recommend this kit to any beginner.
Entry level kit
By: seth
This was my first tank kit I have built. I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 do to the fact that it is an entry level kit but you also need to melt the tracks together. One would think that for entry level they would have use Link and Length tracks. Little flashing on the tank parts but some on the figures. I would recommend this kit to anyone starting out.
Easy and fun
By: cvanraaphorst91
While not the most complex model this one is definitely very easy and simple to put together. If you're a first time builder or buying for someone young it's certainly a good pick! For more advanced modeler it's still an amazing value as long as you use some decent washes and age the tank, especially if you're building a diorama.
Diorama
By: snod
Tamiya quality excellent as expected. The kit allows for 2 versions plus decals for Europe theater or Africa. This kit is simple which would be a great tank for beginners. If you are looking to add extra pieces to a Africa diorama this would be great. The extra 5 figures in tropic uniforms will help add real life to your diorama.
Great little kit
This kit is fun to build, I have made two, this one in Panzer grey and another in Afrika Korps coloring. Parts fit is fine, little flash, comes with five Afrika Korps figures. Easy quick build that can be weathered and customized easily. I recommend this one for any modeler. Spend a day and have fun.
Great First Time Glue Kit!!!
This is definitely a fun and relaxing build that just seems to be one of those kits that are so well engineered that the pieces just seem to fall together on their own. This is definitely a kit that is perfect for anyone from the first time new builder to the oldest seasoned member of the glue army.
Cheap - Not Daunting
By: Hulksmasher123
At 10 bucks, this kit is almost disposable. I usually tell beginners to build these cheap under-twenty-dollar kits because if something goes wrong, the lost is small.
The kit itself is good in quality with very clean molding. However, the tracks are pretty terrible so buy a aftermarket one.
Tamiya plastic kit #35009 Outstanding kit comes with a vehicle and figures
By: kcsl3
Excellent instructions. Includes Tamiya's tech tips for guide to better kit building. Minimal flash on parts with excellent detail and minimal flash. Reasonable quantity of parts for a beginner to get/get back into the hobby. Tamiya's kits are a real value, highly recommend this kit!
Great kit for beginners
The Tamiya German Panzerkampfwagen II is the perfect kit for a beginner. The fit is perfect, the assembly is easy, a lot of details for a cheap kit. I recommend this kit. You can choose Afrika Korps scheme or European one. For beginners I recommend Africa Korps scheme. Great build, lot of fun.
The running boys
By: flipskok
Standard excellent tested model. I am doing a paint by number pic at the same time so keep adding colors. Tanks are very paint worthy. The four dancers are running around the fender tops as the commander searches with his men for his lost legs. This seems an ideal fantasy diorama start.
Nice little model!
By: davisajacobs
This is a very easy build. I have built three of them. The first I built in 2 hours. Second I built in 1 hour. The third I built in 30 minutes without the instructions. This kit is a very fun and easy kit to put together. I think every modeler should have a couple of these in his stash!
Quick, easy and rewarding
By: steady_01
This is a simple and easy to build model. The price is right to make a multiple buy to experiment painting, weathering and other finishing techniques. The only disappointment is the painting and decal instructions are in Japanese. Otherwise, it's a good little model and a quick build.
1/35 best deal for tank and DAK figures.
By: jonwpage
An old kit but a lot of fun I have forgotten how Manny I've built moving has lost a lot of the completed kits. Oh well, but the building is the important thing, therapy after strokes. I highly recommend these. Especially for the young or infirm, great confidence builder.
Desert panzerkampfwagen II Excellent model
Old but beautiful model with an instant diorama with 4 figures + tank commander figure. Still great detail considering the age of the original model's debut. Realistic vehicle; the figures are in lifelike poses and have nice extras. Also inexpensive, making it even better.
small tank but mighty package!
By: manuelvegavilla
what a kit! and that you get one of the first tanks used in the start of the war and was tough as nails, with either a 20mm or 37mm gun at that time was more than sufficient and with a fighting crew of 4 and commander. cant beat this small package with a big bang!
Great first tank kit for beginners
I just finished this kit and I thoroughly enjoyed building it even though I am a total beginner and it was my first tank kit. It is a great kit to practice painting and weathering. I liked the way it turned out so much that I actually made a small base for it.
Cool little kit!
By: blly_sknnr
Even though this is a small tank it has lots of details! Decals and paint instructions allow for various campaign depictions aside from the obvious Afrika Corps. The troops included are highly detailed as well. Fun kit to build and perfect for a diorama!
Great, Easy, and Well Detailed
By: gohawksblake
This is a nice, detailed model. It gives options for Ausf. F and G, as well as Afrika Korps or European front tank. The figures are nice, but seem a little more like they belong in the desert. I would recommend it to advanced and beginners alike.
Weekend kit....
By: user98989
This has got to be one of my favorite kits. Don't get me wrong, she's showing her age. And, is a very basic But, it goes together well. And builds up into an awesome piece. With plenty of room for expansion. Great kit for weekend of bad weather.
Great first tank kit
By: ryanmacgregor08
This is a great kit for a beginner modeler or for a first tank build. I enjoyed it completely. The only things are the decal placements are a bit ambiguous, so you have to wing it a bit, or spend the time looking at photos online.
Still a Great Model.....
By: tippieterrence3
One of the First models I ever bought back in the Day, It is Still a Pleasure to build, this is the Third time I've put this baby together and it came out even Better than before... and the Price was unbeatable ...............
This is a wonderful kit!
By: guardian533
This tank can look amazing with the simple addition of decals and painting of the main, and secondary gun. It looks super adorable and super cool while being easy, and fast to put together. I want to buy at least 5 more of these.
Tamiya Panzer II
By: Colter G. (MO)
This a a fantastic kit to pick up if you're new to the hobby and just want to try out an armor kit with some figures without dropping too much money. The tank has a decent amount of detail and the figures look nice as well.
Great kit for starters.
By: evan_younger
This is the first model kit I ever made and was very simple to put together. I decided to make the turret static because my little brother kept fooling with it. will probably buy another and keep it with a rotating turret.
nice little build
By: brettpee
I've only really just started getting into building kits and this was my first actually taking time and building a scene around it also. The kit went together quite well and all intended moving parts work flawlessly.
Tamiya Perfection, as usual
By: rgsayre
Great little model with impressive amount of detail. I like the hot riveted rubber band tracks. They were super easy to install and weather up. Par for the course with Tamiya. Would build again without hesitation.
Good kit
This kit is great for everyone. The price is what makes it the best. It is a cheap kit to be able to start off with, or try out new modelling techniques without wasting a lot of money in the process.
Ok but very small
By: indredcold663
Way smaller than expected but I should have looked into actual size of this tank. Scale seems way off. Easy to assemble like most Tamiya Models. IMHO best company I have found but this one disappoints.
great beginner model
bought two of these models to assemble the two different versions of this tank. Very well made and very easy to assemble. Great for any modeler. Easy directions for assembly and painting scheme.
very easy
By: coletim57
If you're looking for a challenge, this is not it. super simple, less than an hour to build.but its very inexpensive and perfect to practice you chipping, wear and rust effects as I am
Excellent kit
By: JacobsmithJROTC
It isn't large or expensive but it is a very high quality and satisfying build. The parts have good fit and the tracks were easy to attach. Great for a first time builder.
PzKwII 1943 north africa
Excellent little kit from Tamiya. Figures are typically out of scale lg, but the tank itself is cool. Quick and easy. Made a nice lil diorama with a spare resin figure.
First
By: dannycarr31077
This was my first kit. It was easy to assemble and didn't take very long. Only thing I didn't like was all the tool boxes being molded to the upper hull.
Siimple and detailed
A simple build that gives a highly detailed result, that is perfect for dioramas. The infantry support troops are an added bonus. Can't go past this for value.
Easy and Fun!
By: petebaez
I new to all this and this kit was so easy and fun to build. Everything got perfectly and instructions are simple to follow. Great for beginners and pros alike.
German Panzerkampfwagen II
By: jcndrcky2
Overall it is a good model kit to build but, cant really complain about Tamayi. Good for the kid to start to build something more details than just plane.
Nice little kit
By: travis.getz
Neat little kit with good flexibility for making it the European or African model. But note that the figures really seem to be more 'Afrika Korps' style.
Tamiya Nice Kit
Very nice kit from Tamiya. Currently building an actual 1971 kit and painting in the German Gray scheme. I bought this kit to build the Africa core unit.

The Revell panzer 2 available on this website is made in Germany and arguably of higher quality. You may wish to check that out.
Great kit that comes with figures
By: dcdcdcx3
Great fitting kit that comes with figures to display next to or diorama use. Low cost since the Panzer II is not a big vehicle.
This model is somewhat has one issue the tracks are way too narrow but the trooper helmets are good guns on vehicle are so so but good
Guns are short tracks way too narrow. But it's alright I'm content got 2of these late winter camo 1943 east front

This was a pretty simple build, and mine came out looking pretty cool, even though I haven't put the decals on it yet.
excellent

Good quality. The tank is already small. Make your 1/35 model a little small. But it must be found in the collection.
pretty good

Its a good model overall apart from the soldiers witch are a pain to glue on to the little squares. Best model yet!
Size
Smaller than thought.thought since it was 1/35 scale it would be fine however it is same size as 1/72 scale tiger.
Don't pass it by

Sure, this is one Tamiya's older kits. But, it is still a great kit to build. Fun, easy and a pretty fast build.
