Some many uses
By: Tommy
Sandbags are simply amazing. There are so many uses for them and they fit in EVERY diorama that's military themed. Even when I'm building Gundam dioramas, sandbags still fit in easily. In fact, they make Gundams look more real. Almost as if giant 50 meter tall mechs could be a actual thing. These sandbags came separate from one another and unpainted (duh) so be careful when working with them. You might lose some to the carpet monster. They are also a pain to actually painted, and eventually I got lazy and just hand painted them instead of airbrushing. Weathering them is also annoying for similar reasons. Also do note that 48 bags isn't a lot for a diorama. You'll need more if you want to make a heavy entrenchment. And as usual, typical high quality Tamiya molding with no flash and tiny seams. This one doesn't feel as expensive though :P.
Tamiya 1/35 scale Sandbag set
This is one of those kits that you can always use and it is hand to have a couple on the shelf in the hobby room. Need a quick defense point for your troops or artillery? Build them up a wall of sandbags. Sandbags have been used in all the major battles since WW-1. Tamiya's kit stands up to the quality that all Tamiya kits have. Just a little cleaning and they are ready to paint, and add to your battle scene. Keep in mind they would work in a civilian scene of emergency equipment trying to hold back flood waters. I have 3 displays that currently use them. A German supply area, a USA support area, and a German Machine gun crew. It never hurts to add a couple of these kits to your order. I am sure you will find plenty of uses, and be wanting to order more. Happy Model Building!
Tamiya 1/35 Military Miniatures Sand Bags Set kit #TAM35025
Sand bags are kind of simplistic in nature, and those in this kit would work decently in their intended function and use. The molding technique has them hollow in nature, with open undersides, which kind of limits their use to stacking or placement upon some type of surface that obscures the open undersides. If exposure of the underside of the pieces is not an issue, this kit is a tad less than half the price of Italeri, and I would recommend it to others.
Perfect for a diorama
A fine box of Tamiya sandbags! You get enough to make a big scene or maybe a couple smaller ones but good bang for the buck! I took the advise from a fellow poster who said he used small straps of lead so I picked up a small roll. The sandbags are hallow underneath so a little lead will help weigh them down so I don't have to glue them and can reuse again and again, that was a great tip! I'll be getting another box for sure, definitely recommend.
Better than making them by hand...
This kit's sand bags are not an 'all in one' solution. They are hard plastic and don't feature any 'end' pieces so you can terminate the two sides of your sandbag 'wall'. If you want those, they are easy enough to model yourself out of sculpey, but it's a disappointment to me that a company like Tamiya would model a kit with this subject and not include them. The sand bags take quite a bit of painting to get them to look realistic for your diorama.
Good for the price
The price of the kit is what helps make these appealing. They are individual sand bags which is nice if you need a small sand bag wall. It would be better if the sand bags were molded as groups that you are able to put together. It also takes multiple kits to make a decent wall.
Time Saver
You could sculpt your own sand bags from putty or clay, but why bother when Tamiya offers this set. A little mold seam clean up and some putty to blend the stacking of the sand bags, some paint and weathering and there you go. A highly realistic detail for your diorama!
Sand Bags to Go
These are a good addition. These belong in built up positions, not out in the field. Those soldiers likely did not carry bags and fill them. They are very light, needing to be cemented in place. I wish to obtain several sets to fill out my other things
Perfect for any military diorama
Awesome sand bags! And you get quite a few in the kit. No need to clean up the seam lines either, they actually act as a realistic sewn seam you would find on a real sand bag. I'll be buying more of these for my dioramas
Must need
Easy to put together and paint. It'll make any model or diaroma look even better. I always try to have some put back for just in case. Trust me you'll want them. Great price. Paint them whatever color you may need
Just Right For A Fighting Position
These are just right to build a fighting position. Just paint and glue in shape works great with a field gun or fighting men Add some white glue and sprinkle with real sand for added realism
Good Set of Sandbags
This sandbag set is a good set of sandbags for the overall price. I liked that it did not have any end sandbags so that I could create any diorama that I chose to create.
Great Sand Bags
You get a set of 48 sand bags that stack well and have a layer of cap bags to finish off the top row. Great idea for you diorama kings. I am going to order two more sets
Sandbags
Over all good product. Will use these to build a hangar for a ME-109. Pros: a lot of sandbags per a package. Cons: 3 rows of A sandbags only one row of B sandbags.
Nice addition to AFV diorama
Easy build (really no build) just paint and cut from sprues and use them in your diorama. Great quality and price, a must have to add realism for any armor kit.
Value is Right
For the price of $4.20 each, this is a very good value. There might be some sanding to do - on each and every bag if you're real picky, but it turns out.
Awsome
Awsome great asset to my War on Terror diorama. 8'x8' description of activity in Iraq, Afghanistan war zone with US Military Bases and Air Strips.
Nice Accessory
Nice accessory but a little plain as they seem all the same, would have preferred a little more variance between them in shape.
Great accent or any project.
sand bags look great even without painting, fit together nice to any pattern. I ordered 5 more sets for future use
WWI trench diorama
This is a great item to add that extra touch to the top of the trench if you are doing a WWI trench diorams layout
