Reviews : Tamiya German Panzer Grenadiers Soldiers

All though this would rate as one of Tamiya's Classic Kits. It is still a most enjoyable one to build. BUT word of caution to the novice builder. DO NOT DO WHAT I DID!! I have been building models most of my life (about 45 years. And I was lulled into not paying close attention, and I broke rule number one..I did not test fit the parts first off. I proceeded to attached the arms, painted the figure and painted and attached the accessories, ie helmets, bread-bags, canteens, etc. you get the idea. Assembly is very straight forward. There is the usual mold lines along the legs and arms, so that needs some attention. I would strongly recommend using the add on decal kits if you can find them Tamiya makes them so does Verlinden most of the vintage figure kits particularly the German ones the little helmet decals are off register. So if you want to put on helmet decal ok fine if you chose not to use them that is ok as well, towards the end, they stopped using the national colors and Heer Eagle on helmets. Now the problem i caused for my self was this after all of this work, the arms on the prone NCO were not in the right position to accept the MP-40 so that caused a lot of problems that could not be fixed easily. So just a word to the neophyte builder don't break rule 1!!! Test fit your parts. The rest of the kit went together without a problem, since I build one figure at at time. Sorry I got long winded. I have/will be replacing this kit next month and that should be the ticket.

Although this kit is a bit old, the poses and designs still make them relevant in today's model building and dioramas. This kit went together well and was fairly easy to get set up. I am currently putting the pieces together for a major diorama of the Eastern Front and believe this kit will fill several roles when the time comes. I will use at least one kit to put on a Panzer IV, V, or VI, and will use at least one kit on the ground behind some sandbags, walls, etc. The other thing nice about this kit is the cost. Since it doesn't run too much you can purchase several and potentially manipulate the various poses to come up with some poses of your own. Why not try it? I try to paint them with as much detail as possible, but since I suffer from essential tremors it can be time consuming and repetitive. Unlike competitor kits the figures in this kit do not come with the national symbol on the chest, but does have the litzen on the collars, but none of the figures have any decorations. Unless they are all new to service, you would expect at least one of them to have a wound badge, maybe one of them to have an Iron Cross, and potentially one of them to have an assault badge, etc. The kit does come with a variety of decals for the helmets, including Heer, Luftwaffe, and SS. There were some mold lines and flash that took a little time to deal with, but not too bad. I would highly recommend this kit due to its price, various poses, and ease of assembly.

The 1/35 Tamiya German Panzer Grenadiers Set, No. 35061 released in 1985. Despite it's age, I consider this kit to be another one of Tamiya's classic favorites. There are no kits that I think of that provide eight military figures at this low of a price. As written on the kit box, modeling skills are helpful if under 10 years of age. The main uniform color is German Field Grey. The decal sheet is comprehensive allowing the builder to select from a number of helmet insignias. The kit does not include collar or epaulet markings, so the builder must paint them on. A full set of field gear is provided for all eight figures. Straps and buckle details are excellent. Mauser K98 rifles and Smeiser MP 40 submachine gun detail is exquisite. I only wish the K98 bolt action rifles had molded straps on them. Ok, I am starting to nit pick here. The build up of these figures will require careful placement of the equipment parts and painting up the figures can be tedious. However with patience and care, an excellent result can be achieved.

I bought this kit months ago and put it in storage as I'm waiting for a house to be built. Was going through the storage and found this so decided to build it. Saw a picture of these soldiers on a box top riding a panzer 3. Well I had a panzer 3 and figured I would put them together and voila. Only gave a 4 star as had to do a little work on them to get them to sit right. I have photos of 2 problems and what I did to fix them. Those points aside this is an easy kit to put together and recommend it to anyone. Hopefully you won't come across the problems I did and if so hope my suggestions help. One other thing, without modifying the figures this kit will only fit smaller tanks. Tried them on a panther and couldn't get them to sit right.

I think that this is a great kit. 8 men plenty of equipment, perfect for beefing up an army of soldiers . they look great in dioramas and save for the usual molding lines and bumps from the sprue I would say that this is one of my favorite kits to assemble. would definitely recommend assembling them one at a time as parts can be mixed up quite easily. this kits is definitely one of my favorite kits to assemble and paint

Don't get me wrong, this is a great kit with unique poses for the figures but the faces of the figure lacks a bit of detail... The sheer amount of figures for the price is great and the fitting is flawless. Half of the figure has little to no detail in the face or the other half looks like a 60 year old man. Overall it's a great kit for beginners or you just want to fill some space with figures

This is an old Tamiya kit so the quality, especially in the faces are aged. Instructions are easy to follow and the kit is easy to build. Kit comes with various waterside decals for helmet insignia. They look great and can be used on a tank or separately. There is a page included on separate scenery items they can be used with. Highly recommend this kit

This is a nice set. It can be considered as a classic Tamiya set. Although it is necessary to pay some attention to details and spend some sanding and adjusting some edges, the kit is perfect for beginners and for experienced builders. It can be easily upgraded with some additional weapons and accessories. Taking it calmly, it is great for a weekend!

these were easy to paint and assemble even with the limited instructions. they convey a sense of motion to the static vehicle. best to build from front to back and bottom to top, starting with the magazines. i attach the right arm, position the gun and then the left arm. all parts were utilized

These are really nice figures with engaging poses. My favorite is the guy sitting down. Look good on the back of a tank or moving up under cover of a tank in a diorama. The kit is an older one, so expect the usual 'soft' details and problematic hands.

I remember this kit to be one of my first kits way back when Tamiya was catching on with me. The figures were terrible for the time but lots of them made a huge diorama for me. I would use them for practice only.

I ordered these based on price and volume. I have been away from modeling for some time these are helping me regain my skills. They were as I expected them to be.

Easy to set up and fun to build dioramas using your imagination to make the stage. Like to include in dioramas with military vehicles and/or other accessories

Ther are a lot of little pieces but with patience and toothpicks the end result is very cool nice detail. When I get a chance I will send pictures.

This is another fine Tamiya kit. You get eight men, and equipment. You can add a lot of men to a diorama for a small cost.

I think this kit is going to look great alongside the panzer 3 diorama I will be assembling very soon.

liked all of the kit pieces, not a hard build but instructions not helpful because their all Japanese

These sets are so cheap well worth the money. Great edition to any collection

You get lots of stuff in the box for the price but got some big mold lines.

Very good for the price cheep and good detail, And very fun to make.

I am a novice at modeling but I really liked the poses of this kit
