The pros; good strong, sturdy material, very good detail, easy to paint, and assemble. The cons are few to speak of, one being the .30 cal ammo belt, that has to be bent to display with the gun. I've tried several ways to bend a piece like this, and usually wind up breaking it or melting it with to much heat. I hit on the idea of soaking the pieces in boiling water, for a minute or two, and removing it with a pair of long pliers. Once removed, while still soft and pliable, bend the pieces to the shape you desire. I'm pretty pleased with the results. Another minus is, the seam between some of the figure torsos and lower bodies were pretty wide. Particularly, those figures with two piece lower bodies. Usually with Tamiya figures, a little filler and sanding, will often take care of this problem. In some cases a little sanding and an extra coat of paint will often fill the crack. In this case a little more work might be needed. Overall, still a nice little kit, and one I would recommend for the value.

Tamiya's advance into scale figures took a big step when they released this kit years ago. I purchased the kit when it was first released and used the figures in many poses, although somewhat limited in choices the poses can be re-done to some degree. As today's figures go, the kit remains and favorite for many simply due to the pricing. The figures are a bit over-sized and would go well with the rest of the Tamiya era of these kits which are all basically over-sized due to scale issues. They are in fact too large for many kits today and have larger boots and other features that do not show a true scale representation. I would highly recommend that they and the other kits of this type be used for younger modelers that are starting out and don't need to be burdened with too much detail and where exact scale isn't a requirement.

Tamiya's US Gun & Mortar Team is an excellent model kit that I would recommend to all modelers who are good with painting details (a.k.a. eyes, eyebrows, hair, belt buckles, etc.). This kit includes eight figures, one mortar, one radio, one bazooka, and I think two machine guns. The figures are well detailed, and would make a good addition to WWII dioramas. I have not yet finished the entire kit, but I found that the mortar was a little difficult to put together. Other than this, I have not had much difficulty putting the pieces together as of yet. Painting the figures, however, is a bit more challenging, as it requires patience and a steady hand, with all the small details. Still, in my opinion, this is a very good kit, that, if done correctly, should have a very rewarding result.

I'm very impressed with this US Gun & Mortar Soldier Team kit from Tamiya, especially when you consider the price. It's a relatively small kit, but there was plenty to keep me occupied for quite a few days. I liked the variety of the figures and the weapons included. The casting was very clean and all the parts fit together well. I decided to try my hand at incorporating this kit into a diorama along with a Sherman tank and a WWII Willys Jeep that were also from Tamiya. It was lots of fun creating the scene with the help from a Scene-A-Rama Basic Diorama Kit. Highly recommend.

This kit has very little mold flash, making for less trim. Parts fit well together. Many parts are interchangeable between all figures, giving options for more poses. I first purchased this kit in early '70s and it makes for a good starter kit for today's beginners. I still buy this kit when I need certain pieces it contains. I got this kit mainly for the figures ended up using the weapons as detailed parts to some vehicles that I had already finished. The figures are great and worked for what I needed them for. The poses are limited but can be modified to your needs. I used the majority of the figures as mechanics and supply guys. overall this is makes a great detail set.

One of Tamyia's older kits. But, it still builds up into great figures. The detail is not as crisp as some of their newer figures. The mold lines are minimal with no flash. The poses are just so-so. However, this kit is still better than some of the figure kits out there today.

This is another classic from Tamiya. The pros are simple, straight forward construction, build from pics on the box in leiu of instructions. All but the bazooka team went into a Heartbreak Ridge diorama from 1951. Entire diorama build came in at under $20!

A selection of figures and weapons to pair with your 1/35 vehicles, and supplant your vignettes and dioramas. An old mould but still plenty handy. Figures are multi-part, allowing you to mix-and-match for more dynamic poses. Worth having! Recommended.

The soldiers look so realistic,everything fit perfectly, this was a easy build. I still need another another tank .I'll be ordering another kit as soon as I'm done with this review. Thanks again hobbylinc for such great service

I really liked this kit. It's a very old one, but the poses are so good it holds up. Mounted anti aircraft gun and gunner were the highlights of this kit for me for sure.

I order this kit many years ago and I thought it turned out well.I used the figures for other dioramas and they went very well. I would buy this kit again.

This model was really fun to build. I’m eleven years old and all the different poses worked great for my diorama. I really liked the price of this set.
