Reviews : Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF23 Light Blue 1/3 oz

This is good light blue acrylic paint. To my eye it looks similar to the light blue used on WWII German planes, but perhaps a more discerning eye would disagree. The 10ml pot is small, but it's plenty to last a long time. Its consistency is a bit on the thick side. It thins well with water or Tamiya Acrylic thinner, and if you thin it to 5-6 parts paint to 1 part water it will give a very nice brushstroke free look in 3-4 coats. Definitely use a surface primer though as this can easily pull off of bare plastic with multiple brushstrokes. I've also learned that Tamiya paints are especially suited for airbrushes, however, I still get good results with both traditional brushes and airbrushes. My friend used it with a brush for the underside of a German WWI biplane with great results.

Tamiya makes the hobby paint on the planet. Its so easy to work with. The coverage is awesome. At first, coming from Testors, I was hesitant because Testors is so thin and barely covers. Once I used it, it was a game changer. I will be switching all my paints to Tamiya.

This is a Tamiya acrylic, so you're getting a high-quality paint. But I would say the shade is more of a light greyish blue. I know colors are a bit subjective, but pay attention to the color of the cap and not the name of the color for this paint.

Used a brush and it flowed smooth. Very few brush marks. The only thing I didn't like was it took two coats to cover an area well.

Really exceptional coverage for an acrylic. Been using them for a lot of years and quality has always been consistent.
