Reviews : Tamiya Spray Lacquer TS51 Telefonica Blue 3 oz

This is a really beautiful blue and it lays out smooth and even, with no metallic blotchiness. Just be aware that the color is much deeper and darker than the color swatch would lead you to believe. It is a really true blue, almost giving a hint of a purple cast depending on the lighting, but with a really clean and brilliant blue highlight on curves. It will really make your model pop. I used it on an AMT '67 Chevy Impala 427 SS and got compliments on the color. It's somewhat reminiscent of GM's Deepwater Blue from that year, but with a little more current looking pop to the color.

Tamiya TS-51 Telefonica Blue (my can was labeled Racing Blue) is a beautiful color that can be altered by using different shades of base coats underneath. Tamiya sprays are easy to use and spray very consistently. In my sample pics, I sprayed TS-51 over a Silver base, and cleared with TS-13 clear.

Tamiya have done it again with another excellent spray lacquer that goes on smooth, dries fast, and ultimately gives a great finish even if you don't buff it out or apply a clear coat over it. It would be great if they would offer an extensive automotive paint line.

Absolutely fantastic paint. The metallic that shine through in combination with the clear coat is impressive and is among the best blues I have seen. I wish these came in bigger cans, because as I am a novice modeler, I have ordered 3 can on 1 project so far.
