Trumpeter MiG 15 kit review
I really like Trumpeters 1/32 scale kits. They pick some very interesting subjects. I like to build kits in a theme. Like Korean war subjects. So I tried this kit. The detail is crisp and fun. The surface detail is recessed and raised. I had no problems with fit on this kit. Everything went together nicely. It does need a lot of nose weight to keep it on it's feet. I really like Russian aircraft because they have so much character. They are fun to weather and finish. The only problem that I had with the kit is the lack of marking options. I understand that Trumpeter is a company in China, but they only give you marking for a Chinese aircraft. I could not find any After market decals to do an aircraft for my theme. The Korean war. Which was annoying. So I had to pull decals from all over the place to make up my aircraft. Even with that I could not finish my aircraft the way that I wanted to. I wish that someone would do a set of decals for this aircraft. So, would I recommend this kit to a friend? Yes, I would, because as I said I like Russian aircraft. It has the ability to be made into something very special. I know modelers that would make it stunning. My skill set is still under development at the moment. But, I would build it again. I probably will get another one in the near future. Give it a try if you are into Russian aircraft. It will be fun.
Trumpeter 1/32 Mig 15
This kit lacks detail in several places, such as the cockpit and wheel well and flap areas. It goes together fairly well, but will require some filler. I bought the Eduard painted photo-etch instrument panel and Mig 15 detail set. These items add great detail for a small price.Being the only kit of this Aircraft in this scale that I am aware of,it is thr only option for anyone wishing to model this aircraft in 1/32 scale. With a minimal amount of work and with aftermarket accerosries this kit will produce a nice looking Mig 15. Decals are good but only provide marking for a Chinese PLAAF aircraft, so you will have to buy an aftermarket shhet if you wish to model any other nationatly. These sheet are readily aviable however. Overall this kit will produces a nice Mig 15. I would recommend it.
Mig 15, simple and sweet
Now, I really enjoyed building this 1:32 scale model of the soviet's Mig 15 PLAFF. There are some alignment issues between the tail end and fuselage, so body filler must be used and the model is a tail sitter, so nose weight has to be used, also. I was very surprised that ,this model came with rubber tires and with a little sanding and weathering makes the tires look realistic. I had fun painting also, with a red tail and the rest of the body painted chrome silver, it looks great. I am very pleased with the out come of this model. Can't go wrong with this model, especially with the pricing of the model, inexpensive.
Looks great - at first - but needs a little help
DRY FIT - DRY FIT - DRY FIT!!! When I finish this kit, it will look great. However, it is not molded to be smooth and has numerous fit issues. It needs to be sanded down to be smooth. The fit is terrible in certain locations, such as the side pieces and the piece below the cockpit. I strongly suggest you glue one side at a time to the piece below the cockpit so there is no gap or visible ill fitting parts. the wings need to be dry fit and glued to fit well and the front and back half needs careful attention. The recessed lines are done well. The canopy seemed to fit well. Overall, an OK kit.
Great Kit for the Price

I give this maximum stars because for around 20 bucks you get a very good, well fitting Trumpeter kit with a decent amount of detail. It's a no frills kit such as no photo-etch so it is what it is...a worthy weekend build that is definitely worth the purchase. I put mine together somewhat morphing the two versions featured in the kit together as far as decals, optional tanks, etc. I just did what looked good to my eye at the time. Anyone looking for a fun build, Trumpeter quality, at a great price, I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Large scale Mig
Pretty descent kit. Did have some fuselage fitment issues between the fuselage halves. These required filling with putty & some re-scribing of panel lines in the affected areas. The other only tricky area was the nose cap/cowling it had some fitment issues as well. All in all not a bad kit really, better for an experienced modeler ready to tackle said fitment issues. Detail is good, the rest of the kit went together well. A nice large scale Mig 15.

This is a excellent kit for the price and a very fun build. Overall fit was great! Plenty of weight needs added in the nose because she’s a tail sitter for sure. Also the tail either needs to be glued on or separated completely on the provided stand. I highly recommend this one for a cheap fast build!
Very nice kit

This is a subject I've always wanted in my collection and now I am pleased to have it.
