Reviews : Trumpeter P51B Mustang Fighter

This is the first new 1/32nd scale razorback Mustang since the Revell kit came out in the late Sixties and it really shows how far we've come in the decades since. The kit is cleanly molded with very little flash and comes with an additional set of clear fuselage halves for those inclined to superdetail their interiors. The cockpit is nicely done and really doesn't need a lot of extra stuff added. The wheel well has the same issue as many other P-51 kits, which is it doesn't go far enough back in the wing. Aires resin makes a corrected part specifically for this kit if you feel the need to fix this. I have heard criticisms about the wings scale thickness and the leading edge fairings. To be fair, most of the critics are not aware that all Mustang wings were not the same. The P-51A,B and C had only four guns mounted on a 45 degree angle to accommodate the 11 percent thickness of the new laminar flow wing but when the D was introduced the wings thickness was increased to 14 percent to allow the guns to be mounted vertically and allow the addition of one more gun in each wing. The exhaust stacks looked a little small to me so I added some from the spare parts box that look more like what I'd seen on some museum aircraft. I used an old out of production decal sheet to finish my plane as Don Gentile's Shangri-La.

Needed to add a 1:32 P-51B to collection revell has some and tamiya but this offers a clear fuselage if you want to show detail which I will probably a few fit issues trumpeter but highly recommend
