Building this plane was quite the project for me. This plane has things inside that you go...mmmm do I really need to do that no one can see it? Yes, you do LOL...The instructions are really good and it was a true pleasure to build. I have made this plane for my grandson he picked the color of this item and I think it looks great. OK, here is the one thing that really bothered me was how the items are in the frame...they come off easy enough but there is a lot to shave off. instead of using my #11 blade I had to get a flat blade to come down on the parts that were left after cutting off the frame. For me building this model there was a couple of places that I needed to fill in. Very small and makes it look so much better. If you like detail this is indeed a model for you!!!

This is a decent kit, Ive never been a fan of the trumpeter flap system and find it easier to just glue them where I want em' I did build one wing in the folded position with not much difficulty. I did notice there are a few parts such as observation windows that are not mentioned in the instructions along with a couple other items. As in previous reviews the trumpeter molds use a small injection port that is not a needed part of the item and must be carefully removed with patience. The clear cowling is a nice touch, I felt the decal sheet could've been much better! this is just an average kit however you can't really go wrong for the money$ Happy Modelling

A very nice offering from Trumpeter, this kit build into a very detailed model of the Wildcat. The only problems I had with this kit, were that I thought the control surface installiations were a little over complicated. Detail is good,as well as fit. There was no flash on my kit. Cockpit detail is good but can be improved with Eduards photo etch set, or Vereladin's cockpit upgrade set. The kit comes with a clear cowling, if you wish to leave it clear so that the engine detail can be seen.Overall a nice kit. I would recommend this kit.

I gave this a 3. That's because I haven't built it yet. Byt I wanted to jump in. My Father flew a Wildcat, (he crashed that one!) and later, a hellcat. That's next, with the Corsair following! I'm coming back with a couple more stars when I'm done with the Wildcat. I'm really glad somebody is now making an F4F model! It's long been a favorite.

Lots of small parts that are too small for my old fat fingers. Some of the small parts are not needed and become fiddly - other than those complaints all was well. I would not build this again.

So much detail went into this kit. Great fit on parts. Wings are touchy to put together. Engine has great detail. Rubber tires a plus.

This F4F4 and the F4F3 Wildcat are my favorite Trumpeter Models I have built.

Parts are very crisp and detailed. RUBBER TIRES!!! Love it!!!
