Trumpeter 1/35 Soviet KV-7 Mod. 1941 kit #TSM9503
This kit is another of Trumpeter's long line of excellent quality, finely detailed prototype and proposal design tanks. The tread design of the kit is of the molded sectional link style, with no option of the long rubber strip type. The unit's designation as Mod. 1941 is a tad misleading, as it was developed over the winter of 1941/1942, being finalized with a curious mix of roadwheel styles from both the KV-1 and KV-1S M1942. The KV-1S wheels have extra-large perforations in them, which would have made more sense for use on the actual KV-1S also, if weight reduction was the goal, or at least by the time of the 1943 model. Although this unit, and its successor (with twin 76.2mm guns), failed to meet the intended goals it was intended for, they laid the ground-work towards the development of the SU-152 SPG. Overall, the kit is of high quality and is nicely detailed, and I would highly recommend it to others.
